The 2-Charming Crew presents...

The GRIME / DUBSTEP Showcase || 05/28/2005 || No Cover

:: DJ Sushi vs. Light Touch ::
(Brut Force: Chicago/2-Charming Crew, Delivery: Baltimore)
Grime/Baltimore Club

With his roots in r&b, hip-hop, rap, house, and drum & bass, it was no wonder that Sushi decided to assign himself the task of spreading the underground garage sound. He has been working to develop the stateside "g-hop" sound -- "g-hop" defining their mashup of grime, 4x4 garage, 2-step garage, and hip-hop (specifically, the midwest, crunk, and screw hip-hop styles) with the use of quick mixing, cutting, and scratching techniques.

Light Touch is one of the East Coast's top purveyors of the new "grime" sound, fresh from the streets of the UK. With a thick, energetic urban vibe and ice-cold basslines, LT unites the varied sounds of grime, dubstep, and garage with Baltimore's homegrown "Baltimore Club" sound.

:: Joe Nice ::
(2-Charming Crew: Baltimore)
Dubstep

Joe Nice is America's dubstep ambassador. With a bag full of hammers -- dubplates that cats in the UK would kill to have -- Joe brings the depth, the darkness, the rhythm, and the bassline pressure. This sound is identical to none. Prepare to be educated.

:: Dan Gee vs. John Ask ::
(Downtempo Soundsystem, Delivery: Baltimore)
Dub

Getting the night started properly, Dan and John bring the deep, heady sounds of dubwise riddims. Expect to find yourself headnodding.
