I'm about to purchase a new MIDI keyboard and I'm looking for some suggestions on brands and models you guys like. How is M-Audio?

id say most of the usb ones are good, especailly now theve all got envelope and filter modifiers, but i saw a beautiful one last week cant remember the name of it (cant even remember the one in my studio!) but it was flatter than a pc keyboard, looked like it would b very handy for a live set with space constictions.
cant go wrong with the one you mentioned, but ask if they come with any free software as i got a nice peice with a roland i bought a few years ago.

You need to be more specific on what your needs are. Some things to consider:
how much space you have
do you need to be portable (is it for use with laptop, etc.)
do you need knobs
how many keys you want
There are tons of choices.

The Korg KONTROL49 49-Key MIDI/USB Controller is pretty cool. But if you don't need that many knobs just go with the m-audio. It works fine.

I like the key weights and the feel of the knobs and faders on the Edirol over the M-Audio controllers. Feels like a pro piece of gear vs. a cheap toy. I don't think the price difference is than big, but it's been a while so I could be wrong.

no your not that far off..
ive been researchin this for about 2 mos now and they are relativly the same price.,...
im basing my choice on the layout of the keyboard itself.... im right handed so the sliders on the edirol are on the right hence easier use..
