Change the tempo. Add new loops. Chop up the vocals. Turn me into a woman. Replay the guitar. Anything you'd like.
[03] Tracks must be breakbeat oriented. (Drum n Bass, Jungle, Breaks, IDM, HipHop, Trip Hop, etc...)
i dont care what they say, house music can be dark and edgy too!
where's the ghosbusters remix. that shit was awesome.

i've since switched out the kick & tweaked the snare...
any feedback, esp. on drumtuning/eq/levels, is much appreciated.

method: i dunno the beats sound too "rock"ish to me. Even tho it sounds like breaks, it soudns like a drummer rather than real breaks . Sorry ehhehe.
Also this kind of kick works for house/trance but for breaks I think u need a longer, deepr sounding kick.
That subbass is sick but killing my poor ipod headphones! How did u make that hehe?
Def has potential. Id work on the beat more. Respect..

so they made this into an official contest??
thats pretty cool.
my boyfriend and i downloaded the file a couple of days after it came out, but never really played around with it at all.......unfourtnatly "the hand that feeds" isn't one of our favorites.
plus we already have 2 NIN d'n'b remixes that he did that we play all of the time, and we figured that 3 was kinda pushing it.
but maybe we'll do it if there is a contest going on.
or maybe we'll just send in the other 2 that we've got for shits and giggles...... :bravo:

that website is NOT an official thing of any sort. you can find the original proper sample pack on NIN.com and theres also a version for pc floating around on other sites.

WISH!!!!!
thats my favorite song by them.
when they played that at the concert last thursday i screamed so loud that i thought i was about to blow my vocal chords the way you blow a speaker.
it was good.
i wouldn't mind having the files for everything on broken....that album is so fucking raw.
one of the tunes that my boyfriend remixed was off that album. last.
it's a pretty sick mix.
if you wanna check it out, i'm pretty sure that you can find it on the headhunterz website, or on their link on myspace.

yea, clusterfucked basshits always sound rockish...
i'm similarly conflicted about the sound-palatte for my custom drums. part of me likes it, and part of me thinks it's too generic sounding- i'll post the new vers. later on.
as for the subbass - it's the 60Hz sample included in the sample pack w/some extra fx processing. real-tight reverb->phaser w/0 freq.mod.

a real drummer drummed the "real breaks"

method: ur sub is crucial. I would compress or limit it a bit though I think. My ipod was about to blow up hehe.
The breaks u did are intelligent enoguh. its just that the samples do sound too generic for my tastes. I like my beats all futuristic, sharp and vicious. Thats just me though ;)
prox: i was talking about the beat he made hhehe

honestly the sub sounds very quiet to me.. cant really hear one throughout most the track? needs some tube distortion and compression or sumting.. before you ask i have studio monitors

I really do need to stop offering mastering advice though when listening on my shitty ipod headphones at work. they are NOT a good judge of sound :)

it's compressed a bit. let me know whatcha think after you revisit it w/some better audio gear
werd - on the drum samples; i agree. methinks i'm going to retool them a bit more; if you have some in your library that you think would mesh well - lemme know.
prox - the sub doesn't exist through most of the track...?

thats what i figured cause i didnt hear one except at the beginning really. it just sounds like its hitting far too low , like about 50 hz or soemthing... that would rumble some serious shit in the club but for the sake of home listening etc. i would definitely bring out the highs some more .. i find psp vintage warmer is awesome for this

60/30hz i think.
it comes through really well in my MDRV600's...

new version, new kick&snare - many thx to john. i'm not 100% sure the kick line is the way i want it, but then again sometimes i think patterns are there that don't actually exist... :\
hand that feeds (http://method.servemp3.com/methodmp3/handThatFeeds.mp3)
i'm really unhappy with that delay on the bass guitar when it goes into the 1st vocal sample...anybody know a trick to achive a better delay (short of actually taking a snippet of the sound file & repeating it)?
feedback on those 2 points in particular is much appreciated!
john c
2005-05-26, 12:03 PM
Been out of comission for a couple days now (fever). WIll check this out later today.
About the delay, theres an option in Reason to make the delay go on milliseconds rather than steps. Try it out. Or even try 2 step delay , with long feedback and kind of dry.
method

yea john - bringing up the dry/wet balance abruptly was exactly was i was looking for. i was trying to do it w/mixer-level fx before. this works much better.
