Im such a newb when it comes to this. What exactly makes a HD "SATA" and how does it work in "RAID", and wtf is a RAID controller. What is a RAPTOR SATA? What are the differences/benefits? Thanks bros...

easiest way to tell:

look at the connector. IDE connectors are 40-pin, RAID is 50-pin.

IDE can run 2 drives in a chain, whereas RAID runs 8 I think....

Not too familiar with the definition of SATA tho... I've never used anything but standard IDE drives in my PCs
