<o:p></o:p>A former Chicagoland native, Sharaz moved to Florida in 1986 to attend college. With the exception of one year in a stuffy Connecticut school, he’s been here ever since.<o:p> </o:p>

In the five years since the label’s inception, Sharaz has released over 35 records, and five compact discs (see discography (http://www.dropthatbass.com/music.htm)). Sharaz has provided remixes for other imprints such as Tommy Boy Records, POD Music, Kaleidoscope, DBI records and a few others. Two of his more recent tracks have been charted on “Billboard’s” Hot Dance singles.<o:p> He </o:p>http://www.dropthatbass.com/WFLZ-FM_6705_11%5B1%5D.jpeg<o:p>has also done two mixed CD compilations for StreetBeat Records.</o:p>

A literal darling of mixshow radio, 941’s tracks have been featured on XM Satellite Radio, DirecTV satellite, plus countless FM mixshows throughout North America and beyond. Although not a nu-school artist, Sharaz’s “Switched” was highly charted by the likes of the Plump DJs, Way Out West and Hyper just to name a few.<o:p> More recently, Sharaz's track "Madagascar" was rated #18 in DMX's "Trends". His one-off house remix of Jus Chris's "Cut'n & Scratch'n" was i</o:p><o:p>mmediately picked up by Promo Only.</o:p>

Sharaz has provided five big original tracks or remixes to radio. Robin Fox’s “I See Stars”, DJ X’s “Use Your Love”, Everything But The Girl’s “Wrong”, a bootleg of G-Park's "You Got Me Fallin" and his own “Just Can’t Wait” found their way to radio rotation and have converted legions of new fans to the 941 sound.<o:p> He's now remixing tracks for house giant </o:p><o:p>Tommy Boy Records (home of Afrika Bambaataa, Amber, Information Society and remixers like Hex Hector and Johnny Vicious) as well as other independent labels like DBI and Reptile. His first remix of the classic Fierce Ruling Diva's track "You Gotta Believe" will be released along with remixes from legendary house act Superchumbo on Tommy </o:p><o:p>Boy and shot</o:p><o:p> to #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Singles Charts. Sharaz has produced two tracks for hip hop legend Afrika </o:p><o:p>Bambaataa and also for TC Izlam. Both artists sought Sharaz out because of his unique production style.</o:p>

<o:p>Sharaz is one of the few EDM producers who can easily and convincingly </o:p><o:p>switch from one style to another. His repitiore spans from Breaks to Hard House and from Garage to Disco House. Recently Bad Boy</o:p><o:p> Bill </o:p>http://www.dropthatbass.com/WFLZ-FM_6705_12%5B1%5D.jpeg<o:p>has been seen spinning his</o:p><o:p> newer house tracks, and his tracks "God's Child" and funky disco house anthem </o:p><o:p>"Respect" were good enough to make it on to Promo Only's Mainstream Club series (under an alias). This is an honor to </o:p><o:p>any artist because space on those particular editions are given only to the biggest house </o:p><o:p>producers in the world. "I don't get any real recognition for that," says Sharaz. "I don't really care, though." Longtime friend and DJ, Mark Sanchez says, "Most of the fans listening to breaks have absolutely no clue how much talent it takes to switch up styles like Sharaz does. He makes it look easy when it isn't...Few producers have the musical range to do this."</o:p>

During his very busy touring schedule, Sharaz has spun with the likes of the Richard "Humpty" Vission, DJ Mea, Darude, DJ Rap, The Warp Brothers, The Bassbin Twins, Paul Oakenfold, Baby Anne, Storm (UK), Dave London, D-Fuse, The Crystal Method, Reid Speed, Icey and countless others. The list continues to grow. On his days off, Sharaz spends a good part of his time flying airplanes.

You know how I feel about this. One of the very few and I mean VERY few Florida djs I'd go out and see. That bio's on point too. He can pull off just about any style production wise. Check that Aquasky+MB remix (Addiction) and the recent Bambaataa stuff if you like that grimey sound.

Because I don't think Sharaz is hell bent on world domination like the Iceys, Freelands and Baby Annes of the world. OK I'm just kinda kidding...he's been around for a good minute but severely limits his vinyl, doesn't ever repress anything, only goes on tour when he feels like it and shuns away from interviews. Interesting guy - he flys his own airplane to a lot of his gigs. http://profiles.myspace.com/users/8217969

His website is here: http://www.dropthatbass.com

So...what's the deal? He coming to Cubik?

let me tell you.. the last two tracks on the CD are some of my current favorite breaks tunes.. Soul Of Man - "Shake 'em down" and Zero - "emit/collect". you are my hero, especially because i wanted the soul of man track on CD. werd. thanks for sending me the mix, meng. i'll send you a full review later (and when i am sober!)

Good shit.
Glad you liked it overall.
And yes, I did jock Fixx pretty heavily, but that's just onacuz he's such a badass. I don't think I've ever heard a Fixx rekkid I didn't like.
As for the vocal on track 7, it escapes me as well. I've heard it a million times, but I can't seem to place it either.

And as for Emit/Collect, I chose that one for last because of it's energy. I always finish my live sets strong, so my demo should be no different.

HA!

As for finishing strong, that's how I do. I know some DJs MO is to take you on an emotional roller coaster, bringing you up, down, up, and down again.

Not me.

I just build, and build, and build. It's especially effective when I'm the last DJ and I have to power down right after a hard-ass track. "Leave people wanting more" is my motto.

A few years back, when I would finish out a house set, 8 times out of 10 I would finish with Basement Jaxx - Get Me Off (Superchumbo Supergetoff mix). My old house demo mirrors this as well.

I am not trying to brag but think I would know more about sharaz then anyone here I have been beggin for this for some time but as I was told only one month ago that they would never book him at Nation. The reason being is that he charges a huge chunk of change. I somehow don't know how that is since he flies himself into his gigs town by town. I have over 50 vinyls and all 7 cd's his last is a cd DVD that is insane on this cd is a kick ass breaks movie of him dj'in across the land plus inside studio with sharaz $ Infiniti. On this DVD called Rust there are 5 sharaz cd's from the old days you can burn to your hard drive plus the Rust cd that comes in the package all for $15. If you do not know about sharaz study up cause this dude has produced as much as anyone in the florida breakz scene and there are only a hand full that can hold a candle to him and please don't mention Fixx in the same sentence that would be a real dis! Sharaz is a real breaks king a legend of his own time one who I would call a pioneer. I am the biggest Icey fan out there but I would have to say Sharaz as a Dj is on the same level if not better than Icey. Each are the best producers in the florida breaks scence including Infiniti I would say there the top 3. Bring the Sharaz Rust DVD Tour to Nation and you will pt yourselfs among the best promoters in the land in my mind. I love the club the people are great and friendly and it's worth the 130 mile drive. This guy would rock the joint like no other. Sometimes you have to throw a couple of $$$$$$$$$ out there to be able to stand above the rest in the club world this is about the fans not the money although we know what is true..........lol
Just get the DVD and you will know what I am talking about. And yea it's the first breaks cd ever made the man has chopped out his name as a legend who else has a dvd with 700 hrs of stuff this includes 5 Sharaz cd's put out over the years plus the Rust DVD plus the Rust CD plus studio footage of Infiniti's studio and sharaz's studio and much more and Yes all for $15

Bring me lord Sharaz.

I bet after you see him once he will be booked yearly just take the chance man charge me an extra $5 on my ticket

Wait just a minute here. What the heck does Simply Jeff charge these days? What do you mean by a "huge chunk of change?" To me a "huge chunk of change" for a dj is more than $2000. Is he charging more than that? I bet he doesn't. The same people who wouldn't think twice about paying Simply Jeff whatever his fee is just totally blow a freakin gasket when you ask them to actually bring someone like Sharaz who still puts out vinyl, cds and dvds regularly, is a fantastic dj, still has a current fanbase and keeps himself in the game. No offense to Simply Jeff - he's a pioneer - but we see him around here from time to time and he isn't really what he used to be.

If Nation's freaking out so much then book him with Baby Anne because they should have no problem covering his fee then. I think this is some serious shortsighted thinking by whoever said that. The smart money should be on constantly breaking new and good djs (notice I didn't say "faddish" or "flavor of the week") to the area and the best way to do this is make the guy an offer and let him open for a good crowd with an Icey or a Baby Anne and let the people get the hint. Someone like Sharaz should have been "broken in" to this area long before 2004 or even 2005. How come nobody put him in rotation around here 4 or 5 years ago when he wasn't such a "huge chunk of change"? Pointless to bitch about it now because I feel this guy paid his dues in full a long time ago. If he hadn't he wouldn't be as busy as he is now.

Search up my post about sharaz the booking man said it himself he was asking to much. In my mind you couldn't pay enough for this man. As for Simply shitty that guy is weak and his game is over. Last time jeff was at nation no lie the evacuation from the dance floor was amazing he came on playing the strangest breaks I have ever heard people stood around looking at each other going WTF was that. I am totally honest and people like different shit some may say jeff is da man but for me I will never go to another jeff show in my life been to 3 shows and couldn't figure the man out. Sharaz even brings a drum machine with him and bangs it thru his sets. get the DVD folks. I know he is not popular in this area but man ask any florida break fan or Dj his sets are tight and plays all different breaks the man is a hard core break legend take the chance nation book someone with him if you have to but you better make him the headliner and make sure it's main room or don't even bother, anything less is an insult.

Aerobum
2005-05-01, 09:00 PM
Hey this is why shit will never change and this thought process is why the scene will continue to dwinde year after year. I've seen Simply Jeff clear a floor before as well. Understand I absolutely do respect this man for all he's contributed to breaks over the past decade but today that is NOT enough for me and the ghosts of the past aren't going to keep this scene going. Fine bring whoever you want but what we get around here for breaks djs in NOT totally representative of what is going on in the world. Maybe it's representative of the popular UK guys who are all the rage right now but not what's up here in the USA.

Not only will I be out. My whole posse has to come along with me. Shit just to see a show at Nation costs each person over a $100. Think gas from philly, hotel is $125 a night include parking pass from hotel that is $13. Throw in the ticket to Nation $20 plus food that's if we even eat...........lol
But you get my drift I don't care what the cost is for me it's all about the dj. Now I will have to say I have only been to Nation 5 times but I only discovered it last year. I even had my New Years 2005 party there. That trip alone I brought 12 people. So bring the guy get me the flyers I will walk around south street for you promoting. I am sure most of you know Imri or heard of funk rock in philly I can pass out flyers there to philly's small break scence. I might add the philly scence has been growing.
