MLD (Shisha, Suburbanbeats) - progressive house and breaks (http://www.suburbanbeats.net)
An up and coming DJ who has only been around for a little of the
year, MLD has enjoyed a slow, but steady progression throughout the DC
metro scene. Making appearances at Transit@Bridges, Release@Thyme Out,
Tsunami@Shangosho and residing at his own Saturday night weekly party,
Shisha (http://www.shishalounge.net) he's enjoyed his subtle exposure
the world of EDM. Now with a newfound love for house and breaks, he
has teamed up with iDC (http://www.innerdc.com) to take on this scene
anyway he can, starting with WGMU.....
Gruvregulator (Plate Techtoniks, VA | Shisha, Va | Tsunami, DC)
GruvRegulator (pronounced GrOOve-Regulator) has been getting his groove on
to electronic music since the early 90s; and it was only natural that he would pick up DJing as a hobby. He's been spinning records since the start of the millennium and has recently started to focus on DJing in a professional capacity. He has exhibited his talents at various outdoor venues, private parties and one night exclusives in the Northern Virginia area. In March of 2004 he brought his extraordinary talents to DC, and earned a resident DJ/promoter position as well as a successful weekly
showcase of local DJ talent called 'TSUNAMI TSUNDAYS' at a vibrant
hotspot, Sango Sho @ Café Japone, located just off of Dupont Circle in Northwest
along with residents Shaft XXL and Ken Lazee.
In January 2005; GruvRegulator was invited to fill a second monthly residency at SHISHA LOUNGE in Sterling, Virginia. He can be found tagging with MLD on at least one Saturday a month (see below for dates). He intends to release a promotional CD in the beginning of 2005 titled "Twilight Transition"
His style spans the Tribal, Progressive, House, and Trance genres. Recently he has begun to dabble in BreakBeat. He draws his inspiration from a wide variety of music culture and traditions, with particular influence from such established DJ’s as John Digweed, Chus and Ceballos, Deep Dish, Peace Division, H-Foundation, Steve Lawler, and Satoshi Tomiie. His plans for the future are to get into music production; and bring his own unique sound to a wider audience. Be sure to keep an eye out for this ambitious new DJ talent whose unique, organic, progressive sound will groove
you to your soul!
