"Milkcrate Athletics stands uniquely on its own as the originator of
music inspired clothing. Our philosophy involves each thing from the
street... spinning records, graffitti, skateboarding, whatever... each
has the same momentum, the same driving force. We see the milkcrate as
a symbol of the street... crates are lying around all over the city,
and people do everything with them. You put records in 'em, people
use 'em as basketball hoops, you put 'em on the handlebars of your
bike, guys sit and play checkers on 'em. They're everywhere... It's a
city icon."

"Aaron LaCrate has decided to turn the tables and strike a blow for fashion
by adding an ambitious recording arm to his t shirt and sportswear
empire.
LaCrate believes that Mikcrate Athletics Recordings should be seen as
anatural extension of the heavily music infused fashion that his
clothing line has pioneered since 1997. Each single release, he says,
will be an in-house collaboration between LaCrate and a likeminded
producer and it is envisaged that long-time"

"Philly was all up in the area when SpankRock and Diplo put it down at Rothko last night. Big Dada-signee Spank was wilding for sure, flanked by his B-More club DJ, a Mets-capped hypeman, and a short-haired blonde booty dancer in sequined hotpants."

BIG DADA RECORDINGS
http://www.bigdada.com
Spankrock was recently signed to Ninja Tune's well established hip-hop label Big Dada Recordings, the home of UK hiphop heavyweight ROOTS MANUVA.
"He is, perhaps, the only man on earth to create a counter-rhythm by chanting, "Rick Rubin--Rick Rubin--Rick Rubin--Rick Rubin"-- a pranksta's mantra. . . Over in the DJ booth is Spankrock's DJ and beatmaker, a white kid living in Brooklyn named XXXChange, who's fingers-deep in Baltimore breaks. His beats are kind of Neptunesian-- like the cold street-funk they built for the Clipse--ball breath and whisper and fractured, space-age ch-ching polyrhythms. Spankrock is spitting and jerking and working the room, all eyez on him, with an entourage of ladie"

"Although, the young, Naeem Juwan posessed habits of being meek and dangerously insecure, he began networking through Philly's music scene. After working with various musicians in philly, most notably, rap/rock visionary, Steve McReady, he partnered up with Baltimore native, producer, and long time friend Alex Epton (aka xxxchange). The two shared a deep love of rap music, but felt disenfranchised by both the underground, and mainstream hip hop scenes. Gradually, they began to move away from traditional underground rap formulas. Naeem remains a rapper, true to his hip hop roots, but one who increasingly rhymes over an esoteric mix of dance music, punk rock and electro. Thus Spank Rock was born. They begun 2004 committed to bringing, club music, pop rap and, lyrical diligence, together in a marriage that can only change hip hop for the better. When asked to describe Spank Rock as a hip hop artist, Juwan explaines ,"It's becoming more and more difficult, because at first Spank Rock was an outlet for me to express my innermost thoughts, and now it has become more of group project, an icon or vessel for my closest friends, from home, to share their creativity with the world." Within a year of forming, Spank Rock has been enjoying some small success. After Teaming up with party dj extrordinaire, Christopher Rockswell, the trio began to play shows up and down the east coast ."
