FORESTRY SERVICE RECORDINGS PRESENTS…

ALPHA OMEGA & FORESTRY SERVICE 001

There is change slowly sweeping across the Drum and Bass landscape. The music is again focusing on deeper, break-beat driven tunes. Forestry Service recognizes that. We believe that the way forward for Drum and Bass looks to the elements of this music that have made it powerful. Forestry Service’s first release comes from legendary producer Alpha Omega. Those familiar with his music know he is no stranger to forward-thinking, creative material. Alpha Omega has released numerous classics on such labels as Reinforced, Outbreak, Skunkrock, Offshore, Invader and Cell to name a few. Needless to say we are overjoyed to have such a figurehead to break things in for us. This release is just the beginning of what Forestry Service wants to accomplish.

Review:

Steppa Dub VIP:

A light and airy synth with off beat synths form from the back a smokey cafe. Beats for the headz revolutionise the groove with the best traditions of beat slicing in effect. The bass moves your behind all the way up to the break where reverbed chaos reins it all back in and lets the tune fly. The bass takes on a more distorted shape than before and is much more fluid. The cyclical drums take centre stage again although the bass refuses to take it lying down and grinds in some tasty cuts. Rocking keys soar over the mix to round things off. A solid first release from a label which is going to be one to watch for lovers of the drum and anyone who appreciates true feeling in dance music.

Rhodes Dub VIP:

Reggae chords set the scene for an atmospheric intro winding its way through the haze. Vocals cut in and out wising up the dub and bringing the bass to the fore. The breaks step up the pace and each hit is about as precise as you can get while maintaining the roll. Subs swing the groove out as echoed FX and 8 bit computers load up slowly. The main theme of track fades in and out as the kind of sounds only heard in the depths of the sea float up to the surface. Unexpected guitars reverse the script bringing the track to its conclusion, a sweet stepper.

DJ / ARTIST FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS:

- Alley Cat (Skunkrock)

"Some natty b-boyizm. ya need ta get this!"

- Gremlinz (Metalheadz, Hardware, Architecture, Karma, Version, Horsemen)

"Steppa VIP and Rhodes VIP both have the immediate joy of making you want to dance, while remaining timeless enough to stay in your set for a long time."

- Hak the DJ (Inneractive)

"CL hits the mark again with 2 dub tinged stormers... essential"

- Titan (Architecture, Horizons, Karma, Horseman)
