this was one of my favorite parties down there, yeah it was $30 and you didnt get music for half the afternoon... that blew... but it was fun as shit. bunch of drunk ass people playing in a huge rainstorm in a pool. i got stranded under the high dive in the middle of the storm and met a bunch of randoms - it was the perfect opportunity for a little :spliff: on the sly.
and bukem's set there was great. he was supposed to go on at like noon so i was afraid i had missed him by the time i got there, but apparently he told the promoters something along the lines of fuck it im going to the beach, if you want me to play i'll be back at five. must have had lovely beach weather in that storm. heheheh.

I also came by this party, but for $30 bucks and a sign saying "Carl Cox will not be here" I wasn't going to stick around.

didnt hear of the $30 cover till you guys brought it up....
to be honest $30 was more then worth the price of admission. That party was fucking bannanas. Bukem killed it...specially after the second rain storm...the vibe was incredible.
and then...DSL absolutly SMASHED it. i had so much fun at that party.
Mental Sharp was pretty sick as well. Any of you heading to Sonar tonight for the World of DnB?

30 dollars? you call that jacked? The next day they jacked the prices to 150.00! AND they weren't even letting people in that had cabbanas (2000.00 a pop) and Sander K was outside waiting to get in!! Now that's messed up! They weren't even letting people into the hotel that paid to stay there! My husband left and they wouldn't let him re-enter (even though the SAME security assured him he could go and return!!) I was stuck inside without him!! Talk about Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Simple - when you're eating store-bought chorizo + mac & cheese...an extra $15 puts a hurting on the wallet. ;)

it was nice hearing bukem after it emptied out and smelled like rain. i love that smell. 'specially under the miami sun.

Anyone who was there for John B's set, know the name of the track he played the course was "everybodys fucking on the dance floor" ??? Is this a new/ old track or exclusive to him??

For anyone who did see Bukem's set(s), I was told that the sound was not up to the quality that bukem righfully deserves. A friend of mine who saw him said Bukem was pissed.......anyone else catch this?

Good lord.....sometimes I wish he would leave Conrad at home. Those sets sound decent for a live recording...though It could have been a little louder. Rockin tunes though.

Actually, I spoke to Bukem before he went into the elevator. He was quite pissed. He was all like "I'm going to my room" got into the elevator and told the people that were waiting for the lift to wait a little bit longer. I think its fucked up how it went from a $15 "donation or something like that" to $30 to get in. Thats Miami for you tho. Apparently you find out that you're spinning at a party during the WMC when you see your name on the flyer. 100% confirmed huh

So maybe it didnt have anything to do with the sound, but I think a lack of organization and neglagance caused bukem to be pissed. I read an interview with bukem once about his first WMC experience and he said that he played for about 10 people and thought that perhaps the scene down there was lacking education of drum and bass and its culture. Regardless, Ive personaly have sat down and spoken with Bukem and the man is as humble as they come. So if he was pissed there probly was good reason for it.
