ive never actually met someone who enjoys using rotary mixers tho. but to its defense, its supposed to pump out the best sound quality. you'd think rane or whoever would come out w/ a mixer thats as well made as this 2016, but is designed more like a pioneer djm 600. best of both worlds ya know?

It is way better than a Pioneer. I love that mixer. You can still use the crossfader with the EQ attachment plate.

The way those Rotary knobs blend tracks is unreal and the quality is unmatched.

If you need to use effects...well, use two records :wink:

oh im not even referring to the effects. Just the layout. Crossfader at the bottom in the middle. Upfaders for volume control above the crossfader. I don't honestly see any reason why a knob should "sound" any better than a fader.

The knobs don't make it sound different, it is how the mixer processes the sound. The knobs just give you IMO better control of the volume of the tracks, if you use two knobs at the same time to blend it really does a great job of blending, even better than traditional upfaders and a crossfader used together. Rane makes plenty of the traditional layout mixers, this one is made like that for a reason. I'm not an electrical person but I imagine that to get that level of sound quality requires the mixer to be so large hence why the eq's are on a whole different attachment. Plus it is rack mounted and more of a perm. fixture in a complete sound system.

It really is pretty much the standard in all large clubs around the world.

Not very scratch friendly I agree, but it can be done, I have done it many times in that booth.

Just remember these things for that mixer and you will be fine-

-get used to the cue channel selector, it is also a rotary knob you have to dial in to what channel you want to cue...it takes some getting used to.

-Use the Rotary knobs for volume and keep this in mind- the slope is kind of weird...the volume wont noticeably get louder till about number 7 on the dial (about 3o'clock) and will pump up to 10. So most of your mixing will be done in about the 6-10 range, anything lower wont be real noticeable.

like every club- keep her out of the red and your eyes on the wood and you'll do fine :)

Just stick with Ketel One. It is the shit. Man... I am telling you... I have had some nightmare hangovers with the Goose. If I drink a bunch of that stuff... I won't feel right for days. It is super smooth, but it hurts the head.

Also this other stuff is really hard to find, but it is the best I have found in the USA. It is called ZYR. It is available in NYC and Miami. My brother's best friend from college worked in Moscow, and he purchased this Vodka Company. It is super smooth. I always have a bottle at the crib. It is really great stuff. But Hear Dis! Vodka is not made for mixing. It is supposed to be drank on the rocks or straight shot. You got that... so no more cranberries sucka!

A little disapointed that the roof didn't open up sooner so Sanborn and Ken could drop some tunes but when it did I definitely got my dance on.
