Insaaaaaaaaaaaane!!!!
Thanks to everyone who made it happen. The amount of people that came was a nice surprise. Place was completely packed, great looking crowd, and everyone was rockin' out until the end. Had some sound issues early, but only in the booth; one of the monitors was missing. So it made it harder to mix but I just dropped some old-school funk and had fun with it. People were dancing right from the start. Once the main system was cranked up, it was on. I played some new jams, and some of the monster rockin' choons that have become Funk*Rock classics over thge past year. For my last record I played the "birthday song" from 1994 that was actually made for Simply Jeff (it features a TB-303 acid bassline of the birthday melody w/ a breakbeat on top) so that was sweet.
Then Simply Jeff came on and tore the roof off! People were screaming, hands-in-the-air, etc. One of my favorite DJs, and this is why. He dropped the perfect blend of bangin' electro, tech-funk and party breaks, and had everyone going nuts! I'm sure there will pictures surfacing real soon (Rachel?). Jeff had a great time, and he told me to say thanks to everyone for making so fun. He said "Holy shit... Phillly rocks!" (I'll be seeing him next week when I visit LA, so if anyone has a a message for him or anything just let me know).
Thanks again to everyone who has supported Funk*Rock over the past year, its been amazing and we're going to keep rockin' it. We have a new marketing coordinator, his name is Kevin Kong. He'll be handling merchandise and stuff, and we're going to have a bunch of new gear online real soon, we're almost sold out of the first batch. I'm also working on the new web site, with music and downloads, and other tings. I'll post when that is complete, probably within the next 10 years or so. Juuuuuuuuuust kidding. (Sorry I've been busy!) Soon, hopefully real soon. Special thanks to Mike BFK, Rachel Zara and Lisa LateNite, we couldn't have done this with out you guys!!! Much love.
