B'more Brainstorming Meeting

There are three major things in the works here in Baltimore....

Baltimore Music Conference... an event dedicated to highlighting the talents of dj's, musicians, and bands in the Baltimore/MD area... in other words, The Baltimore Music Scene!

A new monthly rotating networking party for dj's & promoters

A local electronica/dj/event Magazine

If you would like to be involved or supportive in any of these huge happenings from the get-go, please join us for our 1st brainstorming meeting. We're looking for input & ideas from musicians, dj's, promoters, club/venue owners, music buffs, & party goers.

Hey Brad , I think we met at Shorty's awhile back and probably at Sonar. Ive never been to Delivery : ( Thats my bad.

Bassline Mag is a DIY start up project. We have had 2 issues and we struggle to pay for it. The editor Steph spends most of her own money to send out the mags to stores and street team from Ohio. The advertising vendors cover some costs but its mostly personnal money or money raised at small bassline sponsered events. We could supply a banner, stickers and a supply of copies of the latest issue. Thats basically all we can offer other than coverage in the magazine and on our website.

I'm highly doubt I'll come to the meeting. I'm glad to help if you need my resources but I'm not getting too involved. I don't have the spare time and a lot of my attention is focus on other projects at the moment.

We can talk at "The Verse" :raveon: about a zine idea that my freinds have talked about. I don't think my idea is on the same page as you might be with your visions for a zine but we could help each other and who's knows Baltimore might have a handfull of zines to keep them informed and entertained while they slipping drinks at the club.

Meeting went very well... lots of ideas & enthusiasm!! We're setting up committees for the various things that need to be done so if you'd like to volunteer for one... let me know!!
Committeess... Operations, DJ's, Marketing, Sponsors/Vendors, Art Show, Graphics. Each committee will meet seperately, choosing the chairperson at the 1st meeting. If you couldn't make it tonight, but have suggestions or ideas, email them in so they can be discussed at the next meeting which will be in 2 weeks.. location, date, & time to be determined.

General discussion about the monthly networking promoter party. Agreed to start on Thursday Feb 17th at the Depot pending their approval.

Agreed to hold meetings in a quieter location w/ less distraction. Next meeting to be in 2 weeks once we confirm location.

Quick update... meeting w/ the mayor's office on Thurs. The Believe group is way excited about this! I've emailed the leaders of the different communities in B'more to encourage them to get involved. And I'm setting up a meeting w/ 98rock. May go down to Fletcher's tonight to see Matt since he has his show there.
Pictures of the park are up on the myspace group. I'm going to go check out the inside of the Rec Center to see how many seminars we can do at 1 time.
People are talking about this all over town.. yay! It's all coming together very well

I wasn't surprised in the least, considering just about everyone there was a dj and/or a promoter so that's what they know best in regard to the committees. Makes sense right? Next Meeting, Tuesday Feb 8th! We have a meeting hall... (someone bring a podium and gavel)

We already have a photography committee in place. To join the event photography team, email me at ProducerMDDCVA@aol.com and we'll connect you with the others involved. An idea I have is to have instant projections of the images that are being taken at the event. We're gonna need to create a projection team, as well as a videography team. I want DVDs of all of this!!! Anyone who has the knowhow and/or the equipment, email me.

Ideas for seminars are posted on the myspace group. Throw down your ideas also!

The Myspace group www.groups.myspace.com/bmoremusic is the place to be. This is the official-esque site we're gonna be using for up to date info and forums and stuff.

Last meeting we had several different "waves" of people in & out. Everybody's busy, we know that (and Andrew.. think you'll have to get up w/ us son ... I know I don't have the time to be chasin' your butt down to help!). That's why we're posting updates on here, the myspace groups page, and several yahoo boards. And if you want to help & REALLY can't get to any meetings.. shoot us an email & we'll give you something to do!
