Extra trains will be available as needed.
Off-peak fares will be charged all day, and parking will be free at Metro-operated facilities. Metro will hand-sell round trip farecards at high-volume stations. Officials will also sell a special Commemorative Inaugural One Day Metrorail pass for $6.50 at all Passes/Farecards vending machines in all stations.
Metro will deploy Metro Information Person's (MIP's) throughout the system to assist first-time users, out-of-town visitors and regular customers.

I'd like to add that everyone is welcome to meet up with us! It doesn't matter if you're super new and don't know anyone yet, it doesn't matter what your political affiliation is or even if you have one, and it doesn't matter if you are simply wanting to attend or if you plan on taking part in the 'silent protest' a.k.a. Turn Your Back on Bush. If you're interested in attending the inauguration, why not join us, and bring friends too!

The ceremony has started... Have fun downtown everyone!
okay so we went downtown... met up around metro center and then tried to get in through security... everybody else got in 'cept for my dumbazz cause I had my bookbag with me... so i went wandering around DC looking for a place to store it, no hotel or store would hold it for me so i found a corner and took all the important stuff out of it and left to go meet up.
spent about a half hour waiting in line listening to protesters yell bush sucks and other obscenities and the repubs yelling back "get a job!"
got through the line and waited in yet another line to get into the bleacher area. we got into an area where tickets were sold for nearly $200... suckas!! but we sat there for nearly an hour waiting for the damned parade to show and when it did, we saw bush and laura driveby in a closed limo and saw the band and various regimes of military including.... the redcoats, as to which someone you all know added something to the show -- "the redcoats are coming!!!" hehe
so we left right after we saw bush and tried to leave... but guess what? they weren't letting us leave! we had to walk down to 14th st (from being at 12th and penn) to leave the curs-ed area. on the walk down the street we saw the worst of the worst protesting-wise... flag burning and even bigger signs cursing bush and the war... after getting out we went back to the spot where my bag was only to discover it had gotten up and walked off... big boo to that.
after that we got back on the metro and went to fudd :woot: where we saw the wildest thing... a group of environmental-anarchist protesters were walking right down the middle of M st blocking traffic in an illegal protest! it was funny cause there were cops standing right there watching it with us. they then went straight into fudd ahead of us, hehe, rock on.
that be our inaugural day!! had a great with all those who came out!! sorry lauren you couldn't make it, but feel better soon!!
