OK, so this is old news, but:

I was recently listening to Boombox, a breaks and old-skool hip-hop station on Sirius, and heard a nice track called "Positive Contact" by an artist going by the moniker of Deltron Zero. I didn't recognize this name, but there was no mistaking the signature sing-songy, highly articulate, complex lyrical rhyme style...this was Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.

So I hopped over to Amazon.com to find that, in fact, Mr. Homosapien had launched another project, this time with Dan the Automator and Kid Koala, called Deltron 3030. This album was released in 2001...how did I not hear about this?!?! Anyway, being a fan of Del's style, I immediately made my purchase.

Here's my analysis:

If you like hip-hop, you owe it to yourself to pick up this gem...if you haven't done so already. Del, Dan and Koala set the stage for an experimental trip into the future...the year 3030, where the Earth is a technological mess, corporations rule, and aliens don't even want to observe our sorry asses.

If you're into stuff like Dr. Octagon (or any of Kool Keith's alter-egos), Gorillaz, UNKLE, DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, or the wax-melting style of the Invisbl Skratch Picklz, you most certainly will want to gobble this one up.

del the funkee homosapien has been a hip hop icon for more than a decade now all of his alblums are requirements if your serious about music. im pretty sure hes ice cubes cousin as well. a hip hop night at nations would be nice or maybe just a hip hop concert, a weekly hip hop event would bring more drama and rowdiness and my opinion due to those damn thuglings

Del the Funky Homosapien- Both Sides of the Brain
Deltron Zero- Deltron 3030
Gorillaz- I have no idea of the album title
Hieroglyphics- Del did lyrics for them as well

All of these albums were out with in a year and a half. This guy is amazing. Just to here someone rap about computers and hacking and the future is wild. Deltron never leaves the cd changer.

Did you also know that the dude who has a 15-17 second track on Deltron 3030, Prince Paul is no other then The Prince Paul of the Beastie Boys, De La Soul and 3rd Base. As in Paul’s Boutique, 1989

You're right, he didn't come on board until after Pauls Boutique. Is this better?

On 3 Feet High And Rising, Prince Paul used nearly the same sampling technique that the Dust Brothers had used on Paul’s Boutique. Whereas the Dust Brothers were using samples extracted from previously recorded pop music albums, Prince Paul went on to use samples from children's records. To this day, many Beastie Boys fan cite Three Feet High and Rising as the only album that can be considered on par with Paul’s Boutique.

After having experienced commercial success, Prince Paul decided that he could better capitalize on his talent by starting his own label. The thought may have been, "Why make money for other labels, when I could be making money for my own label?" Things did not work out though, and Paul later aborted the deal for his label, Dew Dew Man Records. Paul's disillusionment with and distrust of record industry drove him to seek out groups and projects that were more compatible with his own musical visions. The Beastie Boys’ song "Root Down" which paid homage to New York’s old school hip-hop scene fit that bill exactly. Thus, on the 1995 Root Down EP you can find the long overdue Prince Paul Balloon Remix. Also on the Beastie Boys Video Anthology DVD, one may select "Prince Paul’s Balloon Remix" as the backing track to the "Root Down" music video. Either way, you have the two rap legends reunited as collaborators not as competitors.
