Ok so this post is coming about from another post. But I really think Cubik should have an all out oldschool night with many styles being represented. That shyt would be alotta fun and just think of those memories. *Bring some old school Cubik*
where were you for Old Skool Nite?

Yeah, well they should have another. I was just thinking that a couple days ago. I have so many "old school" clothes in my closet just waiting for this. I missed the last one....

Well, to me that means all those big pants like Kikwear, Adidas visors, UFO's, Jnco's, things of that nature. Stuff I wore like 5-6 yrs ago. I consider that to be old school.

No 1 else just them 2? There better be some more representin next time lol. But I did allways like Scott Henry's old stuff, that shyt rocks. I wish they would get old names back though like even though I've mentioned him alot here Congo Natty. He straight used to tear shyt up in NYC back in the day on the radio mixes and abroad. But even still other dj's would be good to see as well. I just think it would be 1 kick ass party to have alotta old school heads jammin out at like a big starscape type of event. A club is cool but more dj's at big events.

The Old School night a couple months ago was by far one of the best nights at Cubik. The whole crowd was old school, the dancers were old school. Everything about that night was awesome!

Lol.. I was just talking about this on the way home on Friday night with my husband.. Old skool night was definately one of the best parties (w/ the exception of the Fever Reunion) that we'd been to in quite a bit.
My husband still wears the big pants and big polo shirts, has been since we met.. wore them at the wedding.. lol.. old skool forever, I suppose.

they should book Luna-C of Kniteforce records. he's famous for "Sesame's Treet" but that is behind him. he can put together an awesome set of old skool hardcore and new skool breakbeat hardcore. he would tear the roof off the place, i guarantee it.

I would love an old school night. Feelgood, scott Henry, Josh Wink, Micro, X-Dream...playing there old stuff, not old DJ's doing the same current thing. Break out the records with 3 inches of dust on them!

Durring the "Breakcore/hardcore/speedbreaks/pianobreaks" era that everyone else is refencing in this thread there was no kickwear,UFO,Jnco... of coarse adidas was around though...
5-6 years ago huh... that puts us at 98'-99' good fucking years!!! oh man... so many new people flooded in in 99' it was great to see some new faces. But i still don't think that's oldschool. "Mid-school" maybe
I have mad respect for the people i meet at five on saturdays who have been going out and dancing for 20 years (House heads of coarse) compared to myself who's only ben going out for 9 1/2 years...
I'm still waiting for ROB PLAYFORD to stop being a bitch and do the 2 BAD MICE thing at Cubik!!! woot

I agree that is probably "mid shool". I too have been going out since around '95, but to be honest I enjoyed my experience more during the past 5-6 years.
20 years is really old shool and I do have to admire people who have been partying that long. True originals. I may have to check out five in the future, sounds like a good party.

the only way you can see what it was really like is to look at pictures or videos.

I absolutely loved the oldskool night. All I have been spinning for the past 2 years is odskool breakcore. I love to spin out or hear other DJ's spin out oldskool tracks. If you wanna hear me spin out you can vote for me to spin at NYE.
And my wife is right. I still only wear big pants and shirts and have my hat on sideways. Those days are alive everyday for me (at least in my head, so I probably seem crazy to everyone else).

how can someone who wants an oldskool night to remember their memories and shit not know that?
my fav one was the night that micro played oldskool breaks.
i sweat micro and his acid breaks stylee.
now he's a pansy.
tweet tweet trance.
and contradictory to what some short-n-evil bitches say, micro DOES NOT have bounce.

...if you weren't there then, you aren't going to understand it by going to an "old skool" night now.
Even I, who started in 93, had my "rave parents" telling me it wasn't like the old days. In 93 I was considered a nu skooler.
That said, I am the first one to have a blast reminiscing over old tunes and old friends at one of these things. Fever Reunion, as well as the Buzz Old School night in 1999 even had me in tears.
Those things that turned the whole scene from family to business (addiction, thievery, mortgages) are deeply ingrained now. Sorry you have to be a part of something less than the best.
