talking and makes reality the idea of Photek & Fabio composing a track

got this game locked' as the undercurrent of bass and beats rolls to mini
crescendos over and over in hypnotic fashion.

pulses suck the air out of the room in their bombardment, a dark babylonic
pronouncement of `real heavy' emerges in the breakdowns and then the carnage
continues - Savage and unrelenting darkside.

You know, I think I'd take 'Man Down' over "Baltimore' - and the flip w/ 'No Joke' - not bad, reminds me a little bit of the earlier, more minimal style photek - but I dunno - this one felt a little too simple...I almost wanted to hear a slow wobble in the background to give this one some more texture I guess...

And Kian, you'll still be the man whether you do or not. :) To clarify I do think it's a well-produced, banging track. It just has a bad vocal that ruins it. It's like "damn dude, you're Photek. The track speaks for itself. Do you really need to overcompensate for such a bomb ass track by adding that vocal?" Maybe he's just mad that his hiphop project bombed and he's trying to send a message to his d&b audience to remind himself that he's the man? That said I'll be on the floor dancing to it on Friday night. Just watch me cringe every time I hear that Chiara or whatever her name is belt her little verse. ...And I'll be buying the 12" for Baltimore so I guess that makes me hypocrite #1 for the day.

I don't agree with that us/them attitude at all. That's the same sort of shortsightedness that kept good domestic d&b from getting a chance for so long. Had Photek chosen a better team of vocalists and kept it underground instead of trying to rep songs about chest pounding and self ups then he would have fared much better. I can't help but think of the possibilities of some of those same tracks with a better and more positive and creative vocal angle.

The vocalist...Choc Ty or whatever his name was, he just didn't have that umf in his voice, or the real attitude in his lyrics to get it hyper you know? I think that htere re alot of GREAT Uk rap artists. I liek Skitz, The Streets, Rodney P, MC Trip, Infinate Lives, Phi Life Cipher, The Nextmen...on and on.
I think that he wanted to expand his producing to all levels and try to incorporate alot of Idea's too quickly, and it just didn't work out. I think with the right Vocalist it could have been alot better. I concur sir. :bowasian:
