It sounds like what they have done, is push techno into another realm. One that is more accessable to the everyday listener. It sounds more like pop music rather than rave music.

I like it personally, who needs all that loud banging everyday.

oh man, that is a great article, gonna have to pick up that magazine to read the whole thing. kompakt is GOD imo. germany is where its at, and kompakt is at the forefront. i like a little american techno but the stuff on kompakt, as well as most of the labels it distributes, is just so top top top notch when it comes to production, pressing, and a million other categories, that i find myself passing over the u.s. releases time and time again for the more expensive german ones (with the exception of minus and spectral). some of the stuff kompakt puts out isn't my cup of tea, especially the pop-ambient, but most of it is just unbelievably well done incredible music, which is just as great to listen to alone as in a set.

kompakt is decent, some releases stand out more than others, i really dig the kaito stuff, dude is a mastermind, different definitly different, still take my banging tech anyday though.......
