tonight, as we approach the end of summer,
let us count the things in our lives that
keep us going. things like great techno music.
yes, i often wonder what life would be like
in the absence of such wonderful tunes from
my favorite labels. and then i wake up in a
cold sweat because that is no life i want to live.

tonight, in honor of summer's impending close
and great (and weird) techno tunes, nick normal
and milo will be presenting and evening of hot
tunes for your listening pleasure..

nick will be debuting a live set he's been
working on, sourced from his own production
material. it promises to be a rump shakin'
experience for the mind and the feet.

bookending the live set, milo and nick will
be showing the amateurs how it's done with
a load of fresh vinyl just waiting to hit
virgin ears. it promises to be a hot night not
soon forgotten. don't sleep!!

it all takes place here:

you can see them spinning in the front window and hear the beats outside (it's the only place for miles with those kinds of beats coming out of it, should be easy to spot).

I will drop by and try to convince one of you punks to let me spin

milo

well, the people who have been spinning there are great, so don't get me wrong when I say this but:
I wouldn't go
both times I've been I am the only person there, and the guy who promotes it is a total flaming douchebag and it is painfully obvious that he doesn't give a shit about making it a success and he treats the DJs like ass

even though I want to support as much techno in this area as possible, unless this night gets a new promoter I don't see myself going again

Its on again this weekend. Come and "rock out" ;)

Beema, Im not sure you know the whole deal on the owner of the club but it is kind of funny. This guy wants us to spin there, but I must say. It is less than the ultimate space for a techno nite. And its been so dead off and on but none the less we have some fun and the sound system is really quite sick. For a restaurant it is beyond the call of duty.

It still kind of sucks though. Anyone have a space?

I dont care
that guy Joel is a major tool
I love to support you guys, but I just don't know...

I mean you guys don't even get a bar tab for playing there, wtf

You look like you could use a cold glass of Haterade. ;>)

Anyhoo, Joel does his best. Hes the reason why we got the space. Its the owners fault we get shorted on drinks.

OK it all sucks. Joel, The Owner the space. The crappy artwork.

Just kidding. Beema what you need to do is call up all your techno buddies and have them all come to the party and support. Then maybe we could bring in Mills, or Ben Sims.

Its actually pretty fun if your old enough to drink and dont mind there being three people there. PS you also have to not like girls, they dont like techno.

I went to the fist party there. I think for it being what it is, it could be a nice spot. In a city the size of DC the promoter cannot get 50 people to come there. That is just SAD!!! Who is the promoter? Does he need help or REPLACED! Where is the flyer posted for this party? Is there one? Techno in DC can werk!

Post some suggestions for the promoter help him out!

Girls do like techno!

yeah, girls do like techno, just gotta find the right ones -- I know several

there are no fliers

*begin rant

the promoter is a balding, pot-bellied fucking loser, and needs to be fired. he does no promotion for this night whatsoever
all he does is cower over by the bar and soak up alcohol and try to act cool

he is friends with the owner of Saveur and is bringing music there as a "favor" to him or some such crap

in any case, it's painfully obvious that he doesnt give a rat's ass about making it a successful party

case in point:
last week I got there around 11
milo and the other guy (forgot your name bro sorry) were setting up the gear, but having an arse of a time with it cause they were unfamiliar with the setup. I, who simply came to listen to techno, ended up helping them set up, which I didnt mind.
Joel wanders in an hour late and we are still trying to figure out how to get the sound to work and fiddling with all the connections. Joel, thinking he is hot shit, whips out some connectors and plugs in a bunch of wires in what he thinks is the correct way. Turns out he plugged in everything incorrectly (like plugging the sub into the INPUT jack on the amp mixer...wtf). So me and the other guys are still trying to work out the technical difficulties as Joel waddles his fat ass over to the bar.

Finally I start making some headway with the connection and I get the Sub to make some noise. Joel hears the noise and comes over, and in prime douchebag mode (now realizing that someone else was able to accomplish what he was not) goes "oh hey, forget that, dont worry about it" and unplugs all the stuff I had just worked out. Then he goes "yeah, we dont need the sub, just turn up the volume on the other speakers"
what a fucking idiot
I had come in that night with a demo mix, intending to give it to the promoter (joel) in hopes of being able to spin there. But after seeing what a complete useless tool he is, and how crappy he treated the DJs and how he obviously didnt care about the party, I decided against it, and that he wasn't worth my time, so I gave my mix to milo instead.

/rant over
