I would love to rep some local producers on the liquid tip, but outside of Mathematics & Basic Ops(NC), nobody in the US is doing it.

more crazy arpegiators no chopped up breaks just good solid techno noises fit over dnb with a hard reece like something sick or crossfire - hydra
some people say they are tired of that sound but i think it hasnt been explored enought o be played out or overdone

I'm not sure what category my stuff falls into, or if I even do fall into one. Not that my stuff is like way out there or any self indulgent shit like that, it just doesn't seem like any one thing. I've always just called it "Dark Funk" myself. Anyone have any thoughts on this? If you need to educate yourself to the issue, check out http://www.DistrictSound.com =)
Quite a few of my tunes will be released on various labels this Summer and Fall. More info on that shizz once things are finalized ;-)
Peace

Well, in my opinion I love melodic drum 'n bass...best I can describe it is like the stuff produced by Concord Dawn, Pendulum, that Dumonde remix on Dieselboy's Dungeon Master's Guide, and John B's productions. I love that shit!

I don't know many Junglist who don't love that ol'skool sound, and well placed ragga vocals always enhance a good beat. I'm not hearing as much of this on the dancefloor as I'd like but it's definately represented here and there.
One hot genre I would've included on the poll, Brazilian flavored dnb

Good call with the Brazilian comment, but I think a category for straight up Latin would
have been appropriate. Just saying Brazilian leaves a bunch of good tunes out of the mix, such as, The Mexican, Barcelona, The Latin Thing, etc.

I like jump up/CLOWNstep/liquid, alot of OLDER tech step is good, I just think its gettin lame and ordinary now.....I like shit that makes me BOUNCE on the dance floor, and I HATE fucking dnb remixes of pop songs, FUCK THAT SHIT....
(anything technically well done, in any genra of dnb is good really...) take fuckin Squarepusher(best cd Go Plastic), saw him@ the Black Cat, dope shit, I just couldn't dance to it like I can other genraz

DC kids definately have a style of their own! I think the kids from the dc/va/md area set a somewhat standard for everyone on the east coast. We got that shit on lock!

thanks for following through peeps. I voted for Dark Rollers myself. Even though we produce tracks in everything across the board, I am a deep fan of the 90s Goldie/Photek/Dillinja era....
Good vybes are comming up tho, I would like to see all styles represented and hopefully even a party with 2 or more rooms of D&B, with different styles in each of course...

i vote for all with exception to cheese and pop remixes. not partial to ragga either, but other than that i wanna hear all of those in a set. not just 20 tracks of ____ in a row.

Couldnt one argue that dark rollers and neuro funk could be one and the same at times?
I love them both equally

At times, sure...but I think of the b-boy sound when I think of dark or hard rollers.

I guess out of the choices, I'd go with dark rollers or tech-step, but I really find myself listening to any and all sub-genres. As far as what I spin, I stick to liquid, nu-ragga and power wobble

what ever happened to intelligent?
did Bukem finally mix down his 5 tunes as many ways as humanly possible?
are Good Looking and Looking Good still turning out that style of music?
I'm way out of the loop in the intelligent shit. Been a long while. Forgive my ignorance on this one ;)

atmospheric is still out there and alive, and not limited to drumfunk or liquid funk. You just have to dig a bit deeper to find it, if you're hungry enough.

Took the words right outa my mouth Charly..... as long as its good , not that funny, make you wanna laugh DnB.... I really dont like too many vocal DnB tracks but theres this one by Influx Uk - Shine ( rmx by Nero ) .... great example of the kind of beats that I like , the hard rollin beats , but soothing to the soul sound...... Thanks again Charly..... and by the way , isnt what Tech Itch does is more like Hardstep/Clownstep/Jump up?
well, there's techno dnb, too. it's some shit that's been out for a while now. kemal was one of the first i heard start it up, followed up by the likes of pyro, phono, sta & paul b, sunchase, vectorburn, stare & phibbs, and most recently tackling it proper - the ones like the cannon boyz.
and by the way , isnt what Tech Itch does is more like Hardstep/Clownstep/Jump up?
i can't tell if this is sarcastic or what

It is virtually impossible to hear a good liquid funk set or even a few tunes in Baltimore. That being said, I enjoy ragga jungle, dark rollers, and atmospheric tunes most.
