Friday was awesome, but it was way too hot in the main room. Is there any possible way to cool it down in there?
i second that motion.

have less people show up. the AC works, but it can only battle so hard against body heat.
maybe there will be a cryo party sometime soon. that always helps cool people off.

there was a long discussion with the club's management about the A/C situation. it was on - but not working as well as it should. Nation has promised to have it fixed and working right by next week.

It was ridiculously hot in the main room, hot as the flames of gehenna in the rubik room, and holocaust oven toasty in the front room, so overall the entrie club was very unbcomfortable..to top it off they wouldn't open the outside so there was no where to take a breather..the only place you could cool off was 2 inches in front of niki-slicks private fan or at the couch facing the main entrance.

actually, i found it quite cool in the front room.
and the main room will ALWAYS be hot, when you have upwards of 500 people dancing simultaneously and whatnot it's going to get a tad toasty in there... especially now that the weather is warmer.

ive been going for the past few weeks and it was much cooler then..a club like nation should be aware in the design of the ventilation system that indeed, there would be hundreds upon hundreds there.
So it's not the fault of the people for generating body heat, but the venue for not providing proper ventilation. Like that rubik room, it was built las minute, and is obviously inadequetly ventilated..since even with a minimal amount of people in there it gets very very hot.

are you an idiot? it doesnt matter what kind of ventilation you run in there, if there are 800 people packing the place and everyone is dancing it's going to be hot NO MATTER WHAT.

Are you saying the current technology of air conditioning and ventilation's upper limit for cooling a room is 800 or so? Mankind has not yet breached the 800 people mark, and our meager A/C technology simply ceases to be effective at that magical number?
Explain the cubik room then, since there are usually not a ton of people there and that room gets hot as the filling in a pop-tart.
I am sure there are ways to ventilate a large space like the main room adequetely so even with 800+ people it will be at least comfortable. Last friday felt like a stone oven.

the rubik room gets packed due to a combination of poor ventilation and body heat. that place is usually packed, if you say it isnt then you must not be in the same club as everyone else. if the ventilation were better the problem could be fixed at least for that room due to its relatively small size.
however, the main room is quite large, and excessive body heat will heat up a room that size faster than a top-notch air conditioning system could cool it down. the A/C is set to the exact same temperature in my room and in the living room, and my bedroom is always, ALWAYS colder. why? because its smaller, and the cool air has less space to fill.
and even if a system could be installed that could regulate that problem, it would be hella pricey and i doubt either buzzlife or nation could afford it right now.
until then, just learn to deal with it. a little heat never hurt anyone as long as you stay hydrated.

like i said - nation is aware of the problem, and promises to have the main room system working by this week.
the rubik room is always hot - but they are working on piping the cold air from the main system into that room. these things take time and money.
the front room was not hot at all. the a/c was pumping in there - it was so cold by front of the room that i had to put a long sleeve shirt on.
and BTW - the upper level of the patio was open, as it always is. it had rained all day, and was raining when we opened the doors - so we did not open the enitre deck.

I found a spot on the upper level overlooking the main room where the a/c blasts you directly in the face if you are looking over the rail. It actually made me shiver after a while which is no small feat. Nobody seemed to want to stand there, perhaps because of the breeze, but I rather enjoyed it. My label says "keep refrigerated".

The level of AC needed to cool a packed club to say 74 deg, is beyond the meens of every nightclub I've ever seen. The best a club can do is take the edge off the heat. It would take 500+ tons of capacity to handle that the type of heat load Nation sees on a good night, something that would require a water cooled chiller, wich is not anywere close to affordable. Seeing as how I have 7 years experiance with building mechanical engineering for the government, (including type I, II, and III A/C systems) I think I can speak from experiance when saying that no, AC technology hasn't come that far yet. IN fact the most advanced systems today are basicly the same as the ones 20-30 years ago. The only advancements that have really been made have been in new ozone friendly refridgerants such as R-134a, and in the area of controls were computers now control the systems to maximise energy savings.
However I have been working on the Rubik rooms systems, I got at least one side pumping cold air into the area (over by the couches at the entrence), and the other unit is waiting for parts. Nation uses it's HVAC systems under extreme conditions, things break, it's going to happen. It takes time, but repairs are under way.

Some people dance all night and never perspire. In my case I judge the DJ by the sweat factor during the summer at NATION. If I go home after dancing all night and look as if I jumped in a swimming pool with my clothes on, then the DJ ripped it up in my opinion.

wow we need to start donating more money to night club air conditioning technology, start funelling money away from aids and cancer and stuff, this is far more important

you don't have to be a smart ass. You asked why, and I replied. I never said the new technology didn't exist, it does! However, don't expect Nation to dole out nearly a million dollers for a bank of helical compressors, when they have other bills and repairs to make. Nation has taken other steps to improve ventalation, but they can only do so much with what they got right now, and like any business they have to operate within thier budget to get things done. Not very many nightclubs make money in this town, most manage to break even, it's not as lucritive as TV makes it out to be.

helical compressors have been around for a while but they haven't been widely used, because they didn't have the technology to make them reliable like they have in the last 10 years. Hence why I said MOST AC systems haven't changed much in the last 30 years. The most commen types are still the same roof top recip units that Nation uses.
however the way people complain, you would think better AC is more imporatant than cancer or aids. I swear not a week goes by I don't hear somebody complaining about something thats relitively trivial.

Sheesh. There are places you can go to cool off in the club... you just have to find them. (Hint: Look for the AC vents) But seriously, if you put 3000 people in a building... what do you expect? We have it good as it is yet most people don't realize it.

The air conditioning on the main room is fine. It just depends where you stand. Of course the dance floor is super hot. But if you go upstairs..their is a fan right there and when you stand close to it...it feels good and cools you off. The front room is always cool. I never get hot there.

nations can cool it down by maybe openin the doors...so some air can get in..but leave the AC on also.
