Just got back from chile the other day and it was fucking dope as hell, i don t know where to start
As far as the EDM scene goes, it seems to be a lot more active than here, kind of reminds me of how DC was 3 or 4 years back when everyone and there mother was throwing parties and we actually had a decent record store. Although progressive and house are the most popular there, there was a nice little niche for techno still present. The first gig i played was from 2 am to 5am to a packed room till the end. The promoters like my set so they invited me back the next week at an afterhours to play from 7am to 10am, again packed the whole time, I ended up playing till 11 in the morning. All in all the vibe was off the hook, and people seemed generally welcoming and passionate about the music. I also got a chance to get in the studio with one of chile s best known dj s Tony Mass (tonymass.cl for more info) I ll post the result of our work once it s finished, its kind of on an adrenogroov tip.
My one complaint about my trip was the price and selection of records, Despite having 3 record stores in Santiago, records cost about $15 to $19 each and the selection was minimal to say the least. However my addiction knows no bounds and i still managed to buy about 12 records during my trip. The only thing that was really cheaper there was cab rides, food, and labor. Everything else was pretty much the same price as here if not more expensive.
All in all i had a great time and got invited back to play in September with possible stops in Buenos Aires, Peru, and Ecuador. Hopefully it will work out. i took lots of pics and will post some when i get them on my computer.
