Why does everyone on this message board hate Baby Anne? It seem more personal, than her skills. I think she is a great DJ, and her track selection is bomb nowadays. I would luv to see her throw down in Baltimore or DC soon!!

Why is it that 99.9% of people claim that the Dj THEY met always seems to be snobby or stuck up? I have yet to meet a Snobby Dj. Just because people don't know you and don't respond to you doesn't mean they are snobby/stuck up or whatever.
Half the Djs I hear people bitch about are people that I either know or have met and its stupid to hear these worthless rants.

One of the best time's that I have ever had was when I met and hung out with On-E and Dimitri from Deee-Lite at Rise back in 95! And back then, Deee-Lite was, and had Superstar status in the scene. They were two of the nicest, coolest people that I have ever met.
Love me some Deee-Lite!

yeah ok. there are plenty of DJs that i have met and have MUCH respect for because they are cool in person. i met babyanne, and yeah, she came off pretty snobby IMO. i dont hold it against her, maybe she's completely different around people she actually knows. i still have respect for her as a musician and i still buy her CDs because i like her music.

I wouldn't really pay money to go see her myself. Not really a big fan, don't really feel her tunes she plays, and her mixing style is rather bland to me.

as far as meeting djs i def. have more respect for ones that go out of their way to appreciate their fans and are nice, and i will be much more likely to support them in the future. i've really never encountered a dj that was rude or snobby to me. anyway i like babyanne. i've never met her but i like her music, although i do find her to be inconsistent live but hey we all have off days.

The first time I saw Baby Anne was at the Tunnel - she played after Richard Humpty Vission - and cleared the dance floor. Everybody had been going nuts for Humpty Vission & she killed the mood. I hated her for a while & then she came back to the Tunnel & ROCKED it! I had to change my opinion - maybe she got better.

baby anne is cool. she was just in b-more in september and we've had her up quite a few times in the past. alot of dj's may come off kind of weird sometimes, but keep in mind, alot of them are traveling all the time and sleep deprived or just beat.

yep yep yep.... linear it is.... some of them need to take more risks when droppin tracks... i say go out on the edge and try something new... if it doesn't work.. least your being creative on the decks, they can be instruments ya know... oh yeah hmmm i was in maimi this year and heard that damn beasty boy breaks track like 10 times... got old real fast... but didn't hear anyone grab the accapella and lay that down over some breaks.. i know it exists... but all in all... still love to hear the breaks mf

agreed.
florida breaks dont suck.
and SO MANY FUCKING DJS are linear, boring and uncreative with their mixing.
intro - outro is NOT HOT.
im sorry.
cut it up some.
drop a record, wait for the break, let it build recue and when it comes back in, redrop in the second record so that bass gets heavy.
build two tracks together and cut to the second as it breaks for the mix.
wait for the build, cut right as it breaks and when the two come back, the second is kicking and the first is slowing.
its all about variety and it seems to be a lost idea on so many people.
i dont believe your job as a dj is just to simply mix one record into the other. if you dont try and get as much from the two tracks as possible, i dont know what to say.
and yes, baby anne does come on here and i am hoping she reads my response.

A lot of people told me not to get my hopes up about spacegirl/electra and they couldnt have been more wrong. She was so incredibly sweet and modest and was so nervous about doing well and wanted me to have so much fun, she was great. I just cant say enough great things about her. what i really dont understand is why people have to hate on a dj because they are not nice.
seriously, what the fuck.
when you go see a dj are you going to try and be friends with them and hang out and take pics with them so you can tell your friends that you were hanging out with so and so?
or do you go to get fucked up have a good time and dance your ass off?
i dont know about you but i couldnt give two shits if a dj was the biggest prick or bitch ass **** in the world, all im concearned about is what happens from the time they drop that first beat to the time when they walk out from behiend the decks.
if youre more worried about someones personality than you are about the way they are briinging it, please check your fake ass at the door cause you really dont need to be going out.
i mean i cant go on enough about this, but if youre not in it for the music your in it for the wrong fucking reasons.

Well I just got home from the club. Guess who didnt spin? I guess she has a reputation for a reason. The party was from 10-2, I left at 1:30 to flier before everyone left, and never saw her. Some kids I ran into as I was getting in my car said she never came on. This evening in general depressed me and reminded me again of why I drive so far to come to Nation. The crowd tonight was one of the worst I've seen around here. A lot of drunks, a lot of hos, a lot of bumpin and grinding. Some guy came up behind me and put his arms on my shoulders and with his mouth practically in my ear told me he liked my shirt. I looked at him with a "you need to take your hands off me" kind of look and he was like "I dont want you, I'm getting married tomorrow" and I said "congratulations" and he said I should learn how to take a fucking compliment. That about sums up my night.
