Fuck you hater. I hate the long ass drive to DC. At least now a Good major headliner is coming to Baltmore. My 20 minute drive kills an hour+ drive.

He really does need to be at Nation. Not that I hate Sonar or anything, but it's such a small venue, and...if he's gonna be at Sonar then he should be at Nation! Haha. But oh well, I'll be going to see him, you can bet on that. This will be my 4th time (or maybe 5th, can't remember) seeing him. I can't wait, woo-hoo!:bbjohnson:

Is it Baltimore, or the whole entire state of Maryland? I go to school at Towson University (right outside of Bmore) and I always hate going to clubs in MD, because they shut down at 1:30 or 2. I had always heard that it was MD law that you had to close by 2 or something...

djnumb
2004-05-27, 08:08 PM
I think it is a MD law that if your venue serves alcohol (and is NOT a restaurant), they must close at 2am. The restaurant thing is how Kobe in B'more is exempt.
But trying to play on that law also got Trust closed (Damnnit!)

I believe they are a "bar/club" if 51% or more of their income comes from either alcohol sales or admission sales.

ahhhh sander @ nation.

but how crowded will it be at sonar??? is this new mainroom gonna be in effect? i don't wanna be a sardine. did that at trust for the manlike once before....

actually, the state of MD says that all liquor must be behind the bar and locked away after 2am. this means no one may have a drink in their hand, either, after 2am, if they want to stay open later. you can see how this could be a real pain in the ass. most bar owners dont want to risk losing their liquor license.

There may be different restrictions by county as well.

I'm driving into to B'more from Cville with my honeybunny :) Maybe we'll even hit the NYC party of Friday and make a freaking weekend of it? Only snag I've seen is the party only goes till 2am and that's just not Sasha's style.....

Sasha claims he's gonna stop using vinyl when he spins and move to all computerized mixing. He thinks prog as we know it is dead too:

DJ Sasha dismissed reports on the web this week that he been angry when a record he ripped off the decks struck a girl in the face, telling Skrufff that he’d actually been larking around, when a dirty record got stuck in its groove.

“I was two thirds into my set, the place was going off and I was enjoying myself when the record started jumping,” said Sasha.

“By the third time it happened, the whole crowd was cheering and I ripped it off and threw it up in the air in an overly theatrical way, certainly not in frustration. I was just being a bit silly and theatrical and I guess the record boomeranged onto something and hit this poor girl on the head.”

The incident happened at Cardiff’s Time Flies event, and effectively finished the party there and then, though Sasha was also keen to refute allegations that he’d been subsequently manhandled from the decks by bouncers.

“Her boyfriend grabbed hold of me, thinking that I’d thrown a glass at her or something and took me backstage and I went into this room with him to see this poor girl there with blood all over her face,” he continued.

“After I’d seen that I was freaked out, I didn’t know how the girl was and I didn’t want her to think I didn’t give a fuck (care-slang ed), by going back on and playing. I was flipped out by the whole thing.”

Sasha said he’s since been in contact with the girl who’s now fully recovered and will be entertaining her and her boyfriend at his next Fabric gig in July. Coincidentally he’ll also have ditched using vinyl altogether by then as well as much of the music he used to play, he said.

“In about three weeks time I’m ditching vinyl and CDs to go out on the road using my computer and that’s going to allow me to mix anything with everything,” said Sasha.

“I’m now actively distancing myself from that progressive sound that was previously attached to me, because it really doesn’t hold much interest for me anymore,” he revealed.

“I think it’s time to move on, maybe I’m looking back to ‘85 instead of ’95.” He added.

looks liek paul started a new revolution.
