I just bought a pair of new TTX-1s on eBay ($550/pair, baby!) and am now wondering what cartridges I should get. I really like the style of the Numark CS-1 type cartridges, but I'm curious if there's not a manufacturer/model that would offer better sound quality and skip protection. I generally mix anything from house/hard house, to breakcore, to old skool techno, to funky breaks, to a little DnB, but I'm definitely not a turntablist as I do little to no scratching... Anyway, thanks in advance for the advice.

Jason - get the Ortofon Nightclub-S w/integrated - drop the roaches and go with these - they are the best quality and brightest needles

i sold all the equip on ebay as i ended up staying in a hotel for 1.5 months when i had to shut down the studio so quickly - good news is i got 80% of what i paid for everything after all the use / abuse

TTX's are awesome tho - just don't dump your heineken into the pitch adjust - they don't like heineken's too much

I been using Shure M35Xs-- they have sounded amazing. They track and back Q very well with low weight, and are cheaper than a lot of the all-in-ones. Next time I’ll prolly try some ortofons, though, just to see what up. Numark cartridges are the shittyest in the biz, from what I hear.

i took the plunge and opted for the X1s over the 1200s when I found the deal of the century on a new, unopened pair...here’s my 2 cents:

I personally have not had a problem with skipping ever, but i talked to 2 people with ttx1s who said numark actually admitted to them that there is a flaw in the design that allows for skipping if it's set up a certain way...don't know more than that.

i don’t regret buying these. But I think at some point I’ll sell em off and put the proceeds toward a pair of the revised 1200s that came out recently.
