There also was the Metrotechno Crew. But they all moved away, except me. I like to think they will stop by from time to time but no, they are mostly in Europe now. Bob and Greg in Japan.

It's a shame those metrotechno guys moved off, but I guess going to Europe is the only way you'd truely get appreciated as a techno DJ (or South america).

I'm doing my first live pa in 10 days, but it's not going to be techno. Well, not what most people know me for atleast. This set will be some fucked up voodoo shit with conga drums and shit. I can't explain, you guys just need to see the venue. Maybe we'll take footage.

Just like all good dj's, you have to keep the crowd into what you do, especially in BMORE and DC. If i could play all TECHNO i would but then i wouldn't get many gigs. Iplay it all and make it work!!!!

ok, how would you lable JOSH WINK?
IS he house, tech-house, min techno?
you just can't put him in one category because he spins all form music.
What about Sinestro? He does the same.
The same goes with Richie Hawtin.
I'm a Techno dj that plays all forms of techno, acid, hard trance, hard electro breaks, and everything around that is hard.

Ok, there you have some special situations. Wink has never been (all techno) his own productions aren even so).
Sinestro (I dont know) probably the same style as you. But, if you acctually follow techno. then you will notice..
That people dont mix, Jungle/trance/techno/disco/house/rolling tones record/ bob marley etc. and call it techno.
it isnt done

Sounds like you all are pretty lax on the issue. But techno isnt just about getting gigs and pleasing crowds. It is a music rich in artistic expression. Expression thats easily drowned out by anthemic synth lines, and amen breaks. Its subtile, Not unlike a fine wine. So it should be treated as so. Maybe im full of it, but anyway thats my 2 cents of clice's
dd
djrouz
2004-08-16, 11:20 AM
i'm not as lax on the issue as i seem. i'm just saying that if somebody wants to call himself a "techno" dj and not really play techno then he can do that - but all of people that really know what techno is will be turned off and he'll lose respect from them.
do you think that if a techno dj plays 1 house track in his set that he's no longer a techno dj? maybe if 1/3 of his set isn't techno then he's definetly no longer strictly a techno dj but what about 1/30th of the set?
Kier 0ne
2004-08-16, 11:59 AM

Im so over this, but.
THe main reason is.
Is lame when you are listening to a set and everything is going smoothe, nice tracks etc. and then all of a sudden... Boom "back once again its the renegade master!" its time to go back, waay back, into the rave cave. Sorry but, no thanks..
Or it gets trancy or something and that the same thing.
