View Full Version : Single Dancers
My vision.
Awhile back - I remember being on the 2nd floor taking in all that was buzz, and something caught my eye, and heart. There were 2 dancers on boxes at either side of the stage highlighted with changing lighting accents. 1 male, and 1 female. These dancers were very dramatic in how the music effected their bodies. The both exuberated vast ammounts of emotion with their gestures toward the crowd. This kept, and held my attention for quite awhile, and to this day - I still think about that night, and how that made me feel. I absolutley loved it.
I'd like to make the suggestion ... bring em back!
If anyone else if feelin me here.... let em know! Bring em back!

what? bring back the boxes or the dancers (were they professionals)?
My best guess would be - they were.
Boxes dont really matter - but the dancers would need to have some place to do their thing.

see i wasn't clear what you meant.. there's a handful of good dancers at CuBIK that are really good, like the DWA for example.. but you mean performance/stage type dancers i'm guessing.. that would be fun to watch i guess.. i don't think i'd pay much attention though... too busy dancing myself.
This expirience was one of my 1st at any EDM type event. I seemed to feel a affinity with these dancers without the use of any drug, or alcohol. I dunno... just seemed to touch me in a way like no other. I want to give others the opportinity to expirience the same.

I remember that night. And that's the only night I can think of that I ever saw people dancing on boxes.
That night was the huge snowstorm in which all the smart people stayed at home and the dumb people like me went out anyway and almost died driving home in the snow ... but that's besides the point.
It was nice, but I assumed they only did it that night because it was incredibly empty due to the weather... and they wanted to do something to entertain the few that came... or something

WERD - dancers definitly add to the environment. DWA performs at least once a month on the stage. if you havent caught them yet - dont miss 'em on the 30th with feelgood and john b. they have something special planned for the night. they are some of the sickest dancers in the area.
the cubes do take up alot of space on the floor - and its hard to keep 'speaker ho's' off them - which isnt quite the cubik vibe - you know?

I've seen those boxes around @ Cubik. Last time I was there for Seb F. they had them, and there were a few people who would get on them and start shaking their booties like crazy. There was this one chick who was there with the spot light on her, her pants were so tight you could literally see everything, she was there for a couple of minutes till her friends told her to get down. That girl knew how to shake that booty.
It was funny how the L Jay had one of the lights on her, and when she got off u'd notice the light move with the others, but evey is right, they do tend to take a lot of space on the dance floor.

Hey Jake... I have a question for you... it goes a little something like this :
"Where in CD Warehouse is a spot that Buzzlife can put their fliers without moving/throwing away someone else's?"
I nixed that store from placing fliers when I ran Deadly Venomz because of lack of space for our fliers. I had enough time finding spots for fliers 1/3 the size of Buzz's, can't really place fliers in areas where the space for them are non existant.
Plus with the displeasure you've displayed for Buzz, how do we know you won't throw our fliers away?
Thirdly... honestly dude, you don't have jack to say about promotions. Your promotional ethic and excuses eliminate any clout your critisms might have on the subject. Let's go before Buzz shall we to a time when you promoted for Deadly Venomz. How many times exactly... did you have SOME reason why you couldn't promote at the door... and wanted to get by on your flier placement in Hagerstown (which couldn't be verified since none of the other crew lived up there). If I remember correctly you quit and started promoting for Buzz right before we fired you, for missing your shifts at Act Your Age (or was it Antidote)?
Fourthly... how many other parties have you promoted for besides for Buzz? I believe there were quite a fiew... please explain why very few people have ever witnessed you doing anything? You stated once that you were getting shafted because you dropped the ball one time... You've consistantly dropped the ball for the last 3-4 years. Starting with Team Lank, Deadly Venomz and now Buzz.
I've lost more respect for you with every shot taking post you've put up on here. You do have some valid points... yeah there should have been Fliers in CD Warehouse... but what the fuck does that have to do with Buster walking by and sneering at you? You're digging yourself deeper in a goddamn hole , if you have a personal problem with a element of Buzzlife... take it up with that person. I don't think you're dumb enough to not realize that the nature of some of your posts on the board are going to irk people... do the smart and intelligent thing and cease... you're starting to piss me off.

"Where in CD Warehouse is a spot that Buzzlife can put their fliers without moving/throwing away someone else's?"
--we have a shelf at the back next to the dance section and also put flyers in bags for people who buy associated music , we also have a ridge in the center and two windowsills. also we have the top of the listening station. look closer, there are more than one stack of other fliers.
oh yeah, and dont they make multiple flier sizes for each run? i have two different sizes for this month sitting un front of me right now.
I nixed that store from placing fliers when I ran Deadly Venomz because of lack of space for our fliers. I had enough time finding spots for fliers 1/3 the size of Buzz's, can't really place fliers in areas where the space for them are non existant.
--there are LOTS of flyers in that store- thats the point... if you give the stack to someone that works there they make space. this is after all one of the only privately owned music stores in the city- let alone one that actually allows fliers to be placed. incidentally we have space for five flyers, sonar flyers, 930 flyers, as well as a myriad of other large flyers placed throughout.
--think about it- it's good for business to support the local music scene
Plus with the displeasure you've displayed for Buzz, how do we know you won't throw our fliers away?
---please. if buzzlife goes away there will be nothing to replace it and DC will become a town of great house and dnb lineups but nothing else- i don't think we're gonna be lucky enough to have dcskillz (whom i have mad respect for) or any other crew throw another event appraching this magnatude.

I was never signed on as part of DV- i helped you out. Buzz- just ask Sarah, Dez, or Megan about that. I stuck with buzz throughout the B-more attempt, my track record speaks for itself. As do I.
As do a lot of other people.
That's why, as a team, we go out and try to educate and inform the masses of people who don't realize that they're party kids yet.
The point is - why does it seem like you're trying to consistantly work against the team? Everyone *whether they be promotion staff, party kids, or party throwers* has a responsibility to the scene to try our best to bring new kids in.

Actually... I distinctly remember having a conversation with you about merging your 'crew' in Hagerstown with DVC. If you didn't 'sign on' with us , why did we have that conversation? Back then I never guestlisted anyone who wasn't part of DVC. You must have mislead my entire crew, because we ALL were under the impression you were one of us.
As far as Team Lank, the official reason you were axed was legal. If you ask Lars today he'll tell you (maybe not you to your face) that you were a shitty promoter.
As far as DVC, I'll say it here. "You're a shitty promoter." If you call what little you did 'help', you did poorly.
And as far as Buzzlife, if you were that good of a promoter... how come your quality didn't carry over to the new regime? How many times did you miss your shift, and/or find some excuse out of it.
Let's go a little further... go talk to Ken Lazee... you said you'd 'Help' him too. He wrote you off because... you didn't do shit. Your last straw with him if I remember correctly... was when he asked you to help one night and you replied "I don't feel like it." I remember you saying that verbatim because I was standing next to you. Go ahead if you want, ask him to let you promote for him. See his reply, I defy you to ask him.
Your main problem lies with your inability to let things be, you got fired... deal with it.
Your secondary problem is your prime ability to see things in your own light. The scheme of things is different... now than it was before.
I will leave you with these thoughts :
A) If you were a Good promoter... why where you fired?
B) What sets you apart from the 3 Former Deadly Venomz that are Promotional Managers for Buster? And what is it that is different from you that they are doing?
You answer those questions honestly...
Hey Jake... I have a question for you... it goes a little something like this :
