So I was digging through my old crates and discovered an old, forgotten gem from a few years back that still sounds fresh today. Have you guys found any records kicking around like this? Let's keep it to 2+ years old, and the more obscure the better. Please include a sample if possible.
I'll go first.
tarrantella - karma (way out west remix) [whoop!] feb 2002
http://www.planetxusa.com/pub/audio/djram/2002/101149.ram
This track has the best little guitar riff. Love it. Way Out West stuff has a tendency to stand the test of time IMHO.
So you been crate diggin lately?

Every time I see the word Feline in conjunction with anything EDM that violin riff pops into my head automatic-like. You guys all mentioned great tracks, good to know there's other educated edm heads out there. I've been feeling some old Daft Punk lately if you wanna talk about old, how about "Around the World" I think it was released in 1996 and I'd say it's back in style like a 60's fashion 3 years ago. I love this track and just started canning it again, it has perfect energy and elements that blend nicely with a lot of today's productions. Look for it on my promo next month. :meditate:

Great tune!! Hong Kong Trash & Desert from the ol' GLOW label days...that label used to put out the most insane tracks!!
Let us not forget...
Way Out West - DOMINATION (Bonkers Mix)
Back in the melodic days....I don't think I ever saw bigger reactions than to:
Binary Finary (PVD & Matt Darey Mixes) - This tune would just simply blow up the dancefloor!!
I remember Tilt's remix of Robert Miles "Children" was a very, very large tune...
But my heart will always stay with:
Lost Tribe's "Gamemaster"...Matt Darey used to be the master...
Ahhh the trance days of pure innocense...so many more tunes I should go digging for...I could go & on...

I actually have about 13 crates of progressive / trance / etc from 94 - 2002 that I need to filter through for Ebay sales and revisits to good moments of the past.
I'll make sure to post more quality old school tracks tonight or tomorrow.
Yeah man...I used to be a big softy back in the day...I remember visiting London for spring break one year & being inside Plastic Fantastic in Covent Garden every day I was in London (7 days) picking up new tunes. One day, a test pressing came in of Tilt's "Invisible" with new Hooj remixes (Red Jerry & Matt Darey) & they passed me one (the tune didn't see a release for like 4 months) & I literally jumped over the counter & hugged the dude for hooking me up...the melodic uplifters used to be my bread & butter... :delirious:
Nothing beats being in London, going to Heaven for Digweed's Bedrock night...this was the line up up for 5 pounds...
Danny Howells (opening set)
Nick Warren (middle set)
Salt Tank (Live PA)
John Digweed (closing set & also the first time I heard Desert's Voices on GLOW - absolutely amazing!!!)
And if that wasn't enough...Hyper & the Plump DJs were playing in the other room...
And this was a Thursday night...

You guys are all over the old trance
I loved Digweed's Hong Kong album too, all the tracks on both CD 's are choice as choice can be.
PVD's "Travelling" has always been mad underated in trance and I'm just going to take this opportunity to give it the respect it deserves :respekt:

I remember you telling me at Disfunktion that you used to play prog yourself... the melodic uplifters are still my bread and butter, though! :D
What it must have been like to be over in London at that time... God, Invisible and Butterfly were when I started really paying attention to releases, and knew that I'd have to try DJing someday. Now I'm listening to Sacred Cycles and feeling nostalgic. :yourock:

Yo Tails...I know you live pretty close to me in Springfield...if you ever want to dig through my crates of melodic prog...let me know...I am slowly going to be Ebaying this stuff off...if you want first dibs at it...be my guest...I'm pretty sure you might freak out with what you could find down in my basement...I'm gonna being selling off pieces from $3-4 a piece...let me know if you're interested...any of you on this board really...

i thought i'd resurrect this thread.
i picked up the 12" for this one a couple weeks ago, out of nostalgia:
simon - free at last (futurshock remix) [positiva] sample (http://www.planetxusa.com/pub/audio/djram/2001/80805.ram)
i recall wigging out to this several times back in 2000 when scott henry would drop it, most noticeably at his set at odyssey@dc armory. love the speech, and prolly futureshock's best production ever. :raveon:
