I stopped going there though after I felt like they gave a big fuck you to local DJs by regularly just playing a CD for an hour instead of having an actual DJ open...

I'd rather be involved with a club that respects its homegrown talent than one that pisses all over locals...

exactly...to my knowledge, no one bashed glow/zei/fur/armani xchange till way later...and Carl Cox, Bad Boy Bill, Donald Glaude, DJ Dan, Danny Howels, Seb Fontain, and <gasp> Oakenfold can easily beat any glow line-up...my man apparently just turned 13 and is going by what his older brother is saying...funny, if you go to glow's message board you wont see kids from here bashing them, you will see their "wish-list" including many djs that have spun at nation and never glow...Glow is ok if you want to see DJ Jean drop the launch back to back..we all know that panorama has been named best promoters for years, oh wait, that was buzzlife, but Glow has been called best club night, oh wait that was buzz 7 years straight, but glow was the most missed club in america, no that was buzz again...there are some cats that go to glow that are about the music, those kids come on here and promote and are real chill, there are other cats that go there that think they know shit cause they're old skool, cause they have been listening to "trance" since way back 2002......<yawn> I've never heard of glow doing shit for the edm crowd the way buzzlife does...i hope this wasn't taken as an insult, just stating facts, ok, its time for me to listen to my Alice Dee Jay cd, that shits off the hook...

first of all, trash like armin van buuren isn't prog. ;) anyway, the djs at glow blow imo, nothing but cheesy ass formulaic top 40 remixes. then again, i haven't particularly cared for just about any of the headliners at nation since cubik opened, but i would go there before glow any day, as the crowd is so much better. fuck all that mtv i'm better than you because i can afford to buy nicer stuff bs. nation is good because the peeps are real and you can have a great time even if you can't stand the music thats being played, and you don't have 20 middle eastern and eastern european AND WHITE AMERICAN (for acid stars) guys trying to rape your girlfriend. anyway, props to buzzlife for getting hawtin down in june though, time for me to finally see a dj i really want to see since they've reopened their doors :bigpimp: and glow will NEVER fucking see a dj with the talent or class of hawtin. just because a dj costs 30,000 dollars doesn't mean they're any good.

Best Promoters? Um well. Even though Glow is on pause right now, these cats still do 3-4 parties a week and they are always packed. No Glow...but they still bring in thousands of people a week to their events. Buzzlife promotes a one night event a week. Panorama promotes 3-4 nights a week. Both promotion companies work their asses off, but you can't compare the two when one brings 5,000 people a week (not inclusinddg their main party which is on pause) and another brings 1,500 a week.

yes, i have been to Glow. there are numerous amounts of middle eastern and european men there. but stating that they are on drugs trying to rape your girlfriend is a tad racially offensive. being of middle eastern descent, i was a little peeved but i wasn't getting all up in arms about it. i made it a point because of the numbers of other people on the board that are middle eastern, european, and so forth. as far the drug speak/references, they just dont exist on this board unless discussed in a mature fashion. i was NOT trying to make this an issue, mmkay?

the point i was trying to get across was how tired the Glow vs. Cubik argument is. i have been guilty of glow-bashing in the past.. but being a promoter now, i see things from a different perspective. if the two clubs can have mutual respect for each other and their patrons, then it makes it easier for the promoters that flier clubs like Glow to reach out to the percentage of kids that want to see DJs that Cubik has to offer.

there are touchy people on here, and there are elitists on here too. the same goes with every message board. from what i hear, the dcraves board is ruthless. you can say whatever you want to say on here, but follow guidelines... and expect the same from other people who have their own opinions.

They only opened thursday nights again once panorama started promoting thursday again. People do not go to dream regardless of the promotion team. i never said clubs don't need promoters, thats their job, to bring people in...But dream is open more than Thursday, and panorama doesn't promote every night there, but it still gets packed(so i hear)...Thursday is there "college" night, so thats why that is packed, cause kids who aren't 21 need a place to party too...But V.I.P, Dream, and those types of clubs will always have people who have no clue who is throwing the parties there, man i use to go to the Bank(which is what, Platinum now, i think) when i was 16, i knew the dj and went with him, that shit was mad packed every friday, and i went there for over a year and half, every week, and never knew who promoted that night, and still dont'...This is no diss th panorama, just saying that market is different than lets say how they promote for Glow, where they actually need to have knowledge about trance to bring the big names trance heads want to see...See people, two different opinons that are discussed in a civilized manner..... :thumbsup:

Damn RIGHT! Us promoters are important, as are those of you that tell your friends about the events or get them to come out, we (promoters) work hard and try to get people to come out, usually to experience something new or something they just didn't know existed! It's fun getting someone that has never gone to a club to become a going regular. :bbjohnson:

I think that how much those headliner djs ask is also a problem.. I mean how many Buzz-boarders are willing to pay more for a trance night when we have amazing local djs that can spin the same trance (as they DO have the records the big name djs do!) We've been getting tons of top headliners just not the trance ones... it seems Buzz is varying things up and adding trance so it could be very possible there is more in store for us, maybe cyzum can spin on the rooftop... or another good local trance dj. Astral Projection and IM like whoa!

glow is the same price as buzz. they charge 15-20 admission. the only time i can remember it being more was for pvd and it was starting at 20 online and it was 30 at the door. that does not sound like jacked up prices to me.

Buuren is probably one of my favored trance djs at the moment... I wouldn't mind seeing him at CuBIK but I have other acts to look forward to so I'm just not dying to see him yet.. he's the only trance request I've seen lately... I would love to see any of the house djs requested over him though :|

This is a good point, but it hasn't been happening with trance. I'd love to see more local progressive/trance DJs playing at Cubik.

I'm all about some AP and IM, really looking forward to those dates... I think it illustrates something important, and that's that we really don't need the crossover in DJ booking. If Glow is going to book AVB, PVD, Tiesto, Johan Gielen, Scott Bond, etc., then Cubik doesn't really need to book them. The DC area will get them eventually, and if you're into AVB or whoever enough, it won't really matter where he's playing. If Buzzlife were to book every requested DJ, I think their lineups would be decided for the next five or six years. The neat thing about Astral Projection and Infected Mushroom is that they don't generally (ever?) play at Glow, so it's more variety still. It's nice to see different DJs at different venues.

Which is why I think Buzzlife should book John 00 Fleming, because his sets are a lot closer to psytrance than to the epic trance of a lot of the Glow headliners. I don't dig AVB very much, but if I want to see him, I know I just have to wait for Glow to bring him back. I have no idea when I'll see J00F again; the last time was at Code, and there might not be another one.

Yay.. though I still say bring on Sander K or I'm gonna kidnap him :) And yeah.. IM/AP are definately awesome trance acts... BuzzLife gives us variety for sure, which is why i LOVE :affection: BuzzLife! And like Tails said, when Glow/Fur reopens AVB, PVD, etc will be here every 3 months, where you can see them.
