I'm going to make this one sticky:
We all go record shopping online during the day, so here's the thread where you can post your "Pick of the Day" (or "Pick of the Week" if you don't feel like doing this every day)
Format for the thread:

Balearic Trance
http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/servlet/sr?C=12DEEP0802&S=C
Balearic is a term that's thrown around a lot, often by people who have no idea what it means, but it certainly applies to this little guitar-based number. Silky, smooth, lush and emotional, all the hallmarks of a summertime anthem. *** (3 stars out of 4)

Redanka - In a State (Rip Records Promo)
http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/sc/servlet/sr?C=RIP024&S=A
Rip turns out a number of good tunes for me, and In a State -- not to be confused with the UNKLE production that was doing the rounds at the end of last year -- is top-notch. Nice prog tune with an interesting progression and male vocals.

Progressive Trance
None, but it's readily available by other means
Prog Trance at it's finest, you would never know it was a remix of the Britney Song unless someone told me. Reminiscent of Holden's Horizons, probably G&D's top remix so far.

those are awesome records. i'm a huge redanka fan (all his solo productions rock hard), and this one is really good too. reminds me of prodigy's "breathe" w/the bassline melody towards the end of the sample. the dub is nice. awesome hi-hat pattern.
that markus schulz rmx is really nice too. trancy, but unique-sounding. not quite as good (or as baeleric) as his rmx of billy paul williams' "so in love" [kristal], but still worth getting.
here's my pick of the day/week:

if someone told me this was the next big hybrid single, i'd believe them. very similar to hybrid's rmx of creamer and k's "i love you," but of course different. in-fucking-credible. sander k's label goes from strength to strength.

James, good picks. I've been using all of those. =.) Though I kind of like the Diabla mix of Time more than the Chable mix... the vocal manipulation in the Chable dub is novel at first but quickly grates on me. I didn't like his mix of Powerplant - Blame, either... dunno.

i don't have the record yet, so all i had to go on was the short sample. the dibada rmx was kinda "eh" for me. don't like the full vocal. i like the seeping bassline on the chable rmx. does the vocal come in later in the track? i wish i could hear a longer sample, or i wish local shops would stock progressive. chable's rmx of "blame" didn't do anything for me either. i'm really diggin his new tracks though, "melburn" and "the shepherd". gooooood shit. =)

At the breakdown on the Chable dub of Time, the vocal comes back in kinda stuttered and mangled, just to create a wash of noise... it sounds cool, then it goes on for like eight hours and nothing else develops in the track. Trashy.
Melburn is pretty good, Shepherd is pretty good -- I played Shepherd at Disfunktion and it was kinda a song to shrug at. I don't really think he's been on point lately... even Come to Me is a really weak rehash of Before You Break On Me. I still look forward to what he's working on, though, including his mix compilation on Release... that should be worthwhile, I'd imagine.

Tune for me:
Envio
Time to Say Goodbye
sample at www.astralmusic.com ... type in envio and you'll see it (sorry I'm lazy)
Much like Whirlpool - Under the Sun, Envio makes use of a guitar with a riff that screams summer anthem for me. Filo and Peri and Envio are young producers digging the guitar sound in their tracks and it seems to be working as they both are pumping out multiple original works and remixes with so much quality behind them.

Cripes, I finally heard the full track. You're right, that vocal is total shite! I love the bell melody and the bassline, then at the breakdown, it sounds like he went out to lunch, and hit the "crap" button.
I suppose one could always mix out before the breakdown... :gotme:

Yeah, but I'm reading on other forums like Prog Addict how much people love that, and all I can think is, "Are they hearing the same track that I am?" Argh! It just goes on too long... it's nice for a while, then annoying.
I totally agree with you on Coastline though. Absolutely great. I'm really looking forward to what Max is going to do with his Shine label. I'm going to send a bunch of crappy demos over to Max when I get some stuff done.

avus- "real"
on border community.
twisted ass progressive tech house? haha hard to explain.
both the original mix:
http://shop.hooj.com/audiobox.cgi?track=04bca.rm&review=04BC
and the nathan fake mix!
http://shop.hooj.com/audiobox.cgi?track=04bcb.rm&review=04BC
got to hand it to mr. holden, border community has put out the fucking best releases i've ever heard and its only four releases old :raveon: the original is more dark and brooding, very fucking acidy with a nice bill hicks sample in the breakdown. the nathan fake remix takes the original, throws some crack and a few more hits of acid into the mix, and comes out with the most twisted ass techy piece of music imaginable. woot.
imo the most delightfully twisted headfuck of a track since this, another of my favorites:

sultan & the greek - rezin / wadi [shinichi]
http://www.dancerecords.com/makeram.php?id=29863
the first two tracks on the sample are the best for me. the first one is pretty typical of their style, similar to their rmx of portishead's "roads" and g-pal's "no other man". the 2nd track in the sample is very tribal techno influenced. love that one.

yeah, and when the beats return after the breakdown on "time", it turns into a breaks track, but not a cool breaks track, a lethargic pussy breaks track with that annoying vocal. some seriously needs to re-edit that track, as the first part of it is great. *shakes head*
and for sure send max some demos. only send him good ones, not crappy ones. :D

IMO Max hasn't done much creatively with Coastline, being a rehash of the earlier Shoreline. Sure the track is good, but that's because it sounds like Shoreline which by itself is awesome.

Good ones? awwwwww~
Wadi is pretty good; I think my favorite off of that release is the Valentino mix of Rezin. Nice one.
Wadi sounds a lot like the new Pole Folder, but not really as good? I dunno.
Anyway, my pick is Nubreed - One Day. Promo CD-Rs have been circulating, according to the Nubreed site, though I'm not sure if the track has an official release or not. However, you can hear it on Phil K's disc in the Renaissance Therapy Sessions collection, and it's amazing. LOVE that vocal, brilliant programming, just stunning work all around. This is the kind of music that prog. needs to keep putting out, imo.

one i just got yesterday that i love:

http://shop.city16.com/audiobox.cgi?track=ss020a.rm
http://shop.city16.com/audiobox.cgi?track=ss020b.rm
anything with "donkey" in the title has to be good. these are awesome, from sleepfreaks, who's awesome remix of "west on 27th" was just pressed to a white label. the percussion is tight, the basslines are tight, one track has a robot vocal, and both have a couple "hoochi koochie" moments as well, where it's just the basskick and bassline, then the snares/high-hats drop. the samples don't do them justice. dope dope dope.

Marino Berardi - Clear The Skies (Original). The flip has a breaks mix by Momu.

L&M did a brilliant work on the B side... and I don't even like Avril Lavigne...
uf it's sold out.

Nice track, by the way.. very chill... good ol' Leama & Moor :-)

i like that track, even though i despise tiesto. =)
i'm not even sure tiesto did it, as it really doesn't sound much like his production work. and the vinyl i have says nothing on it about tiesto. but then again, that's normal for bootlegs done by famous producers.
and vince, if you want that avril record, buy it here:

Im not really sure it's his remix either.. i heard it on a mix of his before and i was told it was his own mix.. so i assume so.

i'm diggin' this:
dirty bass - iron wreck dream [humanoid]
sample (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF146302-01-02-02.mp3)
maybe this is techno. fuck if i know. anyway, this rocks. i have all the dirty bass releases (on their own label), and this is there first foray onto someone else's label. the sample is of the jim fish rework, but all 3 mixes are tight, including a patrick skoog rmx. hard and agressive.
btw, this humanoid label is great. i've got a release by jim fish on it that rocks. definitely techno.

another one i'm digging:
the jackal - clear message ep [sondos]
sample 1 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF145444-01-02-01.mp3) / sample 2 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF145444-01-01-01.mp3)
sondos is one of my favorite domestic labels. always good shit. this one is great. agressive, filtered loops. sondos past releases of thick dick and jimmy van m are really nice too.

one more:
quest vs the dirty fours - basstrap/rainmaker [vapour]
sample (http://www.dancerecords.com/makeram.php?id=25485)
this one's good. spacey, but agressive, with a hard kick on the 2s and 4s. australians have been ripping it up in dance music lately, and this is no exception. the flip is really minimal and tribally. hard to tell how good it is from the sample.

i'm not sure how i missed this, but this record came out at the end of last year. just found it today:
anoma - let it go (maurice / bill makris rmxs) [harlem]
sample 1 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF130348-01-01-01.mp3) | sample 2 (http://www.dancerecords.com/makeram.php?id=24630)
there's two really good rmxs on this - one by maurice of "feline" and "hoochie koochi" fame, complete with tradmark bass guitar, piano, and wailing guitar - and a filtered, rockin version by a dude named bill makris, featured in the last part of sample 2. sample 1 is the maurice rmx. very nice.

for purdy songs, this takes the cake:
kinnie star - alright (blackwatch rmx) [release]
sample (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF146614-01-01-02.mp3)
simple beat, but beautiful spacey vocals and guitar. there's a hybrid rmx on here too, which is ok. great remix by blackwatch though.

steve porter - homegrown ep #1 [white]
sample 1 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF150103-01-01-01.mp3) | sample 2 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF150103-01-01-02.mp3) | sample 3 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF150103-01-02-01.mp3) | sample 4 (http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF150103-01-02-02.mp3)
different-sounding than all recent releases with the electro bassline. two of the four tracks are dope!

sample (http://www.planetxusa.com/pub/audio/djram/2004/165723.ram) (2nd sample starting at 1:45)
really nice tech house rmx by funk d'void in their typical synthy style. i love how the synths fade into the tribal chanting from the original. very, very cool.
