looks like its going to be a nice size venue. on the floorplan, 1/8" = 1'

I've never been to Dream, so I don't know how big that is..

f|u|r hmm...fur...interesting name. fur. are they referring to the sexiness of fur rugs, or the sexiness of a woman's personally fur (or, sometimes, lack thereof).

fur.

that kind of creeps me out. if they have beds with fur covers a la 1223, i may have to start a make-fun-of-fur thread.

wait a sec, i'm a little confused
i thought glow was moving to the DC tunnel.
are they just building a new club instead?

Quote from the website:

Fur Nightclub is currently under devolopment and will be DC's premiere underground venue.

"UNDERGROUND" This so doesn't look underground. . . . . . . :wtf:

Tails
2004-02-29, 09:06 PM
They've been saying forever that they're not moving to the Tunnel...

I've heard that FUR is at New York and 6th, but I'm not 100% sure on that as I haven't gone to see for myself.

Maybe we should wait for it to open before we start making fun of it, but I'm not getting my hopes up on that one.

bkidz
2004-02-29, 09:06 PM
Look at their client list. . . . . I don't see any underground clubs there. They all look pretty mainstream to me. . .

bkidz

The venue looks tight. I may end up going as long as the DJs are top notch. And I know that it's almost always trance, so they'd have to be some serious trance in the house.

LordOfThePance

Maybe it's going to be in someone's basement...which would make it "undergound" to me. :delirious:

Tails

Pete has mentioned wanting to "diversify" the night a bit, which I imagine will mean more house and such?

I'm looking forward to the re-opening.

I like the fact that there are at least 5 lounge areas..not including VIP and three dancefloors...besides the spaces are set up for flow...big open areas. Hopefully the ceilings will be high to maximize this effect.

Looks like it will be nice.

I know someone else said it, but yes, I also believe it was management.....and even more specific, it was the door people. I dunno about being treated like cattle, but it was a little impersonal. Of course, I used to think that about nation, until I got to know some people, then miraculously, the staff seemed better to me.

Glow, IMHO, is an excellent party. They get high profile names, and I am glad panoramic prod is continuing this. BUT, I'm also glad it's not at Insomnia anymore.

Can't wait til this opens.

I hope so too. If not, Glow has a message board like this one, where maybe a complaint like this (or two) could get results.

I get the impression that they're serious about improving the Glow party -- otherwise, why spend the time and money to move it to another, better venue? Everyone was complaining about the size of Insomnia, and the sound there... and now they're inacting changes to fix those problems. I have a lot of respect for that. It'll be worth seeing if the transition will have paid off.

I've been... I've had good times, and I've had bad times. I don't think it's necessarily for me 100% of the time, but it has its dedicated fans, just like any other party.

You have to consider changing the venue to be a potential starting-over point. Sure, the doors could open at FUR and the night could be as "grabby" as it ever was. However, casual clubbers might not read the Glow message board, unlike those who really do miss the music that was offered by the party. These "casual clubbers" -- generally responsible for macking on girls and not getting into the tunes -- may not even know where the club is reopening. It's possible this will create a swing in Glow's clientel.

It's not a prediction, just a possible outcome. Time will tell on that one.

But until that happens, past performace in this case is not necessarily indicative of future performance. Too much has changed to make that relevant.

Long story short: Give them a chance at the new venue first. If you (general you) hate trance and hate Glow, then seriously, what are you doing in this thread? There are lots of other parties.

I agree the name Fur is a poor choice. Did they feel the need to stick to only three letters to keep it simple or could they just not get any cheesier. It makes me think of a lot of pretensious clubbers wearing fur coats sitting on fuzzy couches giving the real scene a bad name.

"Fur" is a poor name but the party is still "Glow".
"Nation" isnt exactly a breakout name either hehe.

Hey if you assholes would go instead of just criticize then maybe it'd be filled with people you like. If you really like music you go for the music regardless of who the fuck is in the crowd.who is calling who an "asshole" here?
hmmmmmmmmmmmm, that kind of attitude is REALLY making me want to go.
