Hey all, i am looking for djs for an event called Otakon. It is an anime convention in Baltimore md each year. i am incharge of organizing a rave for fri and sat night in the BCC. it is located in a lobby of glass. the backdrop for the lobby is baltimore city. it is a really awesome view. anyway. if you are interested in hearing more about it or maybe spinning please email me at djrage@hotmail.com also, our average convention attendance is around 17,000 with a few thousand cycling through the rave each night. major exposure for you newbies.

yes, they are kinda "funky." but the neat thing is...they dance their butts off and have a crazy good time. all the djs i have ever had spin have said it was one of the craziest fun parties they've done. sometimes those anime fans are the best ppl to dance with :)

This is me on stage at Otakon last year.

I did a 3 hour tag-team hard trance set with a friend of mine and those kids were awesome... the whole floor was shaking they were dancing so much, and I came back and did two encores after it was supposed to be closed.

some of them prolly do do that stuff, but not all. they are really great kids that are totally inot just having fun. we try really hard to keep the drugs out so it is a nice clean party (lots of youngens come). there are no jaded ppl at otakon. they all have great hearts! it FUN!!!

I caught word last year that Otakon would not be booking any Drum and Bass djs due to the uncertainty of crowd favor. This is, of coarse, completely understandable when factoring in the typical musical influences(i.e.- jpop, happy hardcore, etc), but now that animes such as Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and Hellsing have used dnb-ish samples, I'm curious if the booking procedures have changed?

I helped Hope plan part of the rave last year. She books the DJs, I help out with other things. Lots of people asked if there would be some drum and bass last year, and there wasn't. The crowd cleared the floor the last time there was some dnb. We don't to see this happen again, but this was three years ago, and dnb is much more popular now. We'll see about having some jungle back this year. I am in favor of the idea to round out the the styles featured, but I don't have any say in the bookings...

Most anime conventions have dance parties on Friday and Saturday night. Otakon just happens to get real DJs for theirs.

My best friend has been DJing for the past 10 yrs. He's had numerous gig's all over Baltimore and Harford County. He spin's nu-skool & old skool break's, scratches like a maniac, and write's and produces his own track's. Believe me, you would not be dissapointed. He also has numerous demo cd's available. as much as i like dnb too...the general crowd at otakon likes the happy progressive stuff more than anything else. i am working on doing a third side room next year for dnb one night, but i am unsure if that will go through. in general anime music tends to be bubbley so the dance/rave should reflect what ppl expect.

hey all, i finally got back to the message board. Thanks to all the people who submitted emos. i got some totally awesome stuff. I also want to thankx the dnb djs who sent stuff in. as for dnb at otakon...i am trying it out for 1.5 hrs this year..to see if it would warrent more time next year. I have asked moody moore to do a set. if the crowd responds well to her set then i will seriously try to get a third room for a while for all the dnb/jungle heads. as you were already told the one year i did dnb i had teh dance room cleared. hopfully that wont happen again. I fyou all really want dnb then come to otakon and show support and also sign the petition i will have at the main dj booth on the main stage. thankx again for all your support and demos!
