The Buzz message board was developed to bring together current, past and future visitors of the best club night in the Baltimore/DC metro area. This online forum allows members to openly discuss our club experiences, music and culture.
To ensure that the message board is enjoyable for all users, a few general guidelines have been established:
- Blatant references to drug use/abuse (including sale or distribution, rumored or true) will not be tolerated. Board moderators will use their best judgment in censoring posts with illicit references, which may include post deletion. Repeat offenders of this guideline risk temporary and/or permanent banning from the board.
-INTELLIGENT conversation concerning drugs (ie, marijuana legalization, medicinal uses of drugs, etc.) will be tolerated on a case by case basis. The conversation must hold to being non-club related, especially about Buzzlife and its patrons, and should generally involve some sort of relevance to current affairs. Moderators will lock and/or delete any threads which they deem questionable.
- All non-Buzz events should be posted in "UNBUZZ EVENTS". Do not post events in the musica section. Do not multiple post your line up. Line up threads in any musica forum will be deleted, and persistant offender will have all of their line up threads removed. Please see the format for event threads here.
- Although we realize that everyone has an opinion, which will often times vary with someone else's, we ask that you please keep personal attacks to a minimum and take into account other peoples feelings. Although the moderators will oftentimes leave this area untouched, they will respond to requests from other members regarding particularly offensive posts. Each case will be handled individually.
Personal attack
Generally, a personal attack is committed when a person substitutes abusive remarks for evidence when examining another person's claims or comments. It is considered a personal attack when a person starts referencing a supposed flaw or weakness in an individual's personality, beliefs, lifestyle, convictions or principles, and use it as a debate tactic or as a means of avoiding discussion of the relevance or truthfulness the person's statement. It works on the reasoning that, by discrediting the source of a logical argument, namely the person making it, the argument itself can be weakened.
This line of "reasoning" is fallacious because the attack is directed at the person making the claim and not the claim itself. The truth value of a claim is independent of the person making the claim. No matter how morally repugnant a person might be, he or she can still make true claims. For example, a defense attorney may claim that a witness' testimony cannot be trusted because he is a convicted felon. On the other hand, illuminating real character flaws and inconsistencies in the position of an opponent are a vital part of the public political process and of the adversarial judicial process. Use of a personal attack in a logical argument constitutes a formal fallacy called ad hominem, a term that comes from a Latin phrase meaning "toward the man".
- DJ mixes should only be posted in their respected musica forums. Do not post them in the DJ & Producer Corner. In the same respect, please keep topics general to DJing and Production in the DJ & Producer Corner, not in the musica forums.
-We ask that you don't complain about the state of the board or about individual members of the board. If you have issues with someone on the board or with the way the board is run, PM a moderator about it or contact one of our super mods: Muramasa (AIM: buzzcharly or by PM), Cleophite (by PM), or Shade (aim: ssshhhaaadddeee or by PM).
- To make the message board more user friendly, categories have been setup. If a moderator feels that a thread is in the wrong category, they will move it to where it is more appropriate. When moving it, they have the option of leaving a “redirector” in the old spot, or moving the thread altogether. Please note that when a thread is moved, the moderator may or may not leave a “redirector” in the old spot.
- All message boards have moderators to ensure the integrity of posts. Please realize that the moderators are carefully chosen and use their best judgment in censoring posts and/or threads, but can make mistakes. If you feel you have issues regarding posts by yourself or others PM the moderator responsible for that forum. If you are unsatisfied with the response you recieve, or with a moderator's behavior please then contact AmandaHuie, the board Admin.
- Within each post, there is a link to 'report this post to a moderator'. If you feel a particular post or thread needs to be reviewed, please use this link to notify all moderators of that forum. When using this feature, they receive an immediate e-mail alerting them to your request for review.
- To ensure fast load times, threads may be deleted after long periods of inactivity. By doing this, the board will continue to work optimally for all users regardless of their connection speed.
- If you don't like a DJ, or a song, or a genre, that's okay, but please refrain from making personal attacks against the DJs or the people that like them -- all it does is generate bad vibes. The same goes for local parties. If you don't like a party, feel free to say what you don't like about it, but please don't make it personal, and please don't just say that "It sucks."
- In order to keep the board easy to read for all involved, please limit the length of your signature to 2 lines.
- Please refrain from posting scrolling text in your signature. We don't need to see a scrolling sentence every time you post.
- Pictures, HTML code, embedded songs, and animations are not allowed in signatures. This is to keep the board easy to read. Smilies, however, are allowed.
- Please read our FAQ to help alleviate any general issues you may be having. The FAQ can be found here.
-In general, violations of our policies here will result in a first warning, then a temporary ban from the forums, followed by a permanent one if the problems persist.
This board is supposed to be fun, and fun is what we encourage you to have. The Buzz ethos is legendary: Involvement, not investment. This message board is provided free of charge to you; the people who have made Buzzlife the best event promotion company in America for the last fourteen years. We hope that you will uphold on the board the same 'party one, party all' attitude that you feel time after time at Buzzlife parties. Old skool boarders are considered to be ambassadors for the message board. We expect all boarders to make new members feel welcome and part of our family. Negativity will not be tolerated!
By adhering to these few guidelines, this message board will be an enriching and fun experience for us all.
Happy posting!
