View Full Version : M&M Championship

a friend had this on his LiveJournal....thought it was funny!
"Whenever I get a packet of M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels.
Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round.
I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.
Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment.
When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., along with a 3x5 card reading, "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes."
This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of M&Ms. I consider this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the true champion.
There can be only one!
(Author unknown - but a great story)"

Facinating, was this performed with regular m&ms or were they one of the many variants? I think in the intrest of science the "strongest of the herd" of each type should be kept and made to challenge each other so that we may know what is the toughest breed of M&M. The winner of this battle should then be made to battle the champions of other candies so that the toughest candy could be determined. I don't think swedish fish, though wholesome and delicious, would not have much of a chance....

My friends and I used to do something very similiar with animal crackers. They would charge and then battle until someone was broken. Then that little guy would get eaten. I always hoped for the weak ones because I liked to eat my animal crackers.
On the subject of M&Ms, I eat my least favorites first so I'll have the best for last. Green is always last.

My Dad had a girlfriend that would only eat the red M&Ms. I swore it was my Stepmom, but it must've been some other woman that looked similar.

I'm a yellow person myself...though I once heard somewhere that liking the color yellow is actually some sort of disorder.

That's soo funny! I often do the same thing myself when eating M&Ms....

I beg to differ, I think there needs to be more research into the relative toughness of candies. This could provide valueable if, uh, if............. well, I can't think of a reason other than curiosity. I think a peanut M&M could decimate the much larger but softer peanut butter cup any day of the week. I wouldn't mess with a hershey's kiss though, they're pointy. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to buy some candy.
On colors: I used to hate the bown ones because I thought they tasted bad but now I realize they taste all the same. My aunt absoultley hates the blue ones, with a passion. we always tease her about it.

I got bored at work the other day, a regular occurance, and I dicided to see which was stronger, the heroic wintergreen altoid or the reviled ginger altoid. Try as I might I couldn't get either one to break so I got out my leatherman and used to pliers to help the battle along. They both shattered.
Moral: chocolate can't fuck with the altoids

What about the person who can be sitting across the table from him and still not remember that he has blue hair and/or not remember that having blue hair is not "normal"?
