I know I'm going....I :affection: me some Hybrid.

Here's some info on Hybrid for those that just don't know....

"Hybrid is a trio of remixers based in the Welsh city of Swansea: Mike Truman, Chris Healings, and Lee Mullin. Meeting while going to clubs in the early '90s, the three made their own remixes of recordings, eventually earning assignments from record companies to pursue their hobby professionally. Finally, they were signed to Distinct'ive Records and embarked on making an ambitious first album, Wide Angle, in Moscow, using such talents as singer Julee Cruise and the 90-piece Russian Federal Orchestra. "Finished Symphony," which reached the U.K. singles charts in July 1999, featured the orchestra. It was followed into the charts in September by "If I Survive," featuring Cruise on vocals, and by Wide Angle itself. Picked up for release in the U.S. by Kinetic (distributed by Reprise, a division of major label Warner Records), Wide Angle was reconfigured for its American appearance in September 2000. The group then served as the opening act on Moby's U.S. tour that same fall. "

"Mike Truman and Chris Healings are Swansea-based Hybrid. Their 'type' of music has been described as a mixture of breakbeat and progressive, but they aren't the kind of group you can fit neatly into genres.

Hybrid have toured the globe DJ'ing and giving their world-famous live performances - most notably supporting Moby in a stunning tour of the USA.

Hybrid's new single, True to Form, and their new album, Morning Sci-Fi, have now been released."

I'm just beyond extatic right now... I don't know what to do! Can I just molest all three of them all at once, then tie them up, gag them and take them home with me to keep in my closest? :afterbuzz:

which makes an 80s boy such as myself get all kinds of giddy!

this will be fun. i've only heard them on mixes and such but they're always playing/making crazy remixes that really dissolve genres. i think that makes them as cool as play-doh.

Hooray for Hybrid, please sweet Jebus let it be warmer this Friday than last Friday.......

and yeah, how can you not lose when you also throw in Peter Hook from New Order?

The oddest part when I first started listening to their stuff is that I HATE R.E.M, with only a couple songs I actually like, but their remix of "The Great Beyond" is absolutely badass......

Can't wait to see them :tweak:

Sorry, my bad, basically was talking in reference to Hybrid's remixing of some of their songs......here's an example, my bad Spiggums...

http://www.hybridized.org/sets/?id=99

Lol, yeah, guess that did sorta come out random looking back on it, but my point was that I thought it was impressive to take songs I would normally hate and remix them into something I thought was awesome...

mmmm... I love that mix of "Everything In Its Right Place"... Actually, that's the one thing I remember dropping at Aurora cause I had some woman run up to me afterwards all like "OMG THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THAT!!!"

but really... Hybrid has done so many remixes that are just mindblowing..
St Etienne - Boy Is Crying
DJ Rap - Bad Girl (and I really am not a big fan of DJ Rap outside of sheer physical attraction)
Conjure One - Tears from The Moon
BT - Never Gonna Come Back Down

to name a few!

Then when you consider their original work???? It would make my night if they dropped "If I Survive" Friday night!

just so everyone is clear: hybrid are mike truman and chris healings...lee mullin let the group about 2 years ago.

hybrid have done over 200 remixes in the last 10 years.

www.hybrid-group.com (unofficial site)
www.hybridized.org (live hybrid sets)
www.hybridsoundsystem.com (official home page)

saw them at buzz/trust last year and they rocked it with lee coomb's remix of extreme ways, their radiohead remix, and their xpander remix among others. saw them at ultra in miami last year and they played a live PA set which also rocked.

look out for their remix of massive attack's dissolved girl. it's totally badass. it's on way out west's annie nightingale mix on hybridized.org.

dial-up suckers beware...

Actually, I believe that the remix of Xpander was a mashup that Hybrid claimed they didn't do, at least that's what I read on the global underground messageboard.

I've also read that they've done a remix of the Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds" I'm def trying to check that out!

the rmx of xpander they dropped at trust was not that crappy bootleg mashup vinyl that you're referring to. this sounded like a proper hybrid rmx.

Yeah i totally know which remix you're talking about.

I was reading www.progressive-sounds.com in the soundbits section and they mention that Hybrid just completed a remix of it.
