John Travolta going to be the villian. This movie just got better knowing he will be the main villian.

man I can't wait for this movie to come out. BTW its 5:30 in the morning anyone else not go tosleep yet? hmmm now I just watch the trailer and it looks like I might not like it after all. This was one comic that I actually somewhat read and im sure its not going to follow it at all. I mean I saw no hell's kitchen references and whats with his family being killed at the beach? Oh well I'll be there opening night anyway....

Unfortinately I wanted the First Punisher movie to be the SpiderMan Vs Punisher but then I am sure they would have a fit to say who the leading actor was. This movie is going to have a different story line from the original comic I do not blame Marvel for this I blame Hollywood.

They already did a Punisher movie back in the 80's.... and it sucked. I can't remember, but I think Stalone was the lead and the story was more literal than the comics...

A couple of points:
1) Dulph Lungrin played in the first Punisher Movie
2) The Punisher doesn't need to be in Hell's Kitchen. That's Daredevil.
3) They used some great Punisher works, including some of the recent and best written ones by Garth Ennis, as the base for the movie.
4) The trailer makes the movie look like nothing but a typical action movie. I hope it's going to be good, but I don't have high expectations for this one.
btw- John Travolta as the villain?!? WTF? "Bring me Frank Castle. He's so weiad!" It could at least be entertaining with him as the villain.. well, one of them. Kevin Nash of WWE fame is playing another villain, The Russian (who is from one of the first Garth Ennis-penned story arcs)

The website is pretty dope. You can go into a database that explains the whole punisher history. Very creative.

I can't stand it when people say that. Listen carefully: When they make a movie based on a comic book, learn to seperate the comic from the movie. If you expect the comic book on screen, you might at well take the movie you would have spent on a ticket and buy a comic, because you're never going to get what you want. comics are notoriously hard to transfer onto the screen, not only because of the medium, but because, in cases like Spider-Man and X-Men, you have @ 40 years of history to deal with, and need to extract all of the major points you need to please fans of the comic, while at the same time, not shunning those who had never read them. I have yet to be disappointed with any one of the comic movies that I have seen within the past couple of years, which included X-Men, X2, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Hulk (had low expectations for this one), From Hell, Road to Perdition, Blade, and Blade 2.

Frank Castle or the Rock is going to be one of the options for the Venom character in the third Spiderman. So thats why they did not use him. At least that was a rumor I read at one point.

Good Point cause in the Comic world Blade and Spider-Man team up on a number of occasions there is no way they could ever make a joint movie at this point it would turn out to be the worst movie ever.

Fuck that shit me and my friends wathced X-2 and it sucks man. X-men movies
suck. Me and my friends could of thought of better story lines then those. And all the characters being changed. None of the actors did the characters justice. We all used to watch the animated series religiously. I watched 5 seasons of incredible x-men. This shit thats put out to be the x-men ruins it completly. The actors Halle Berry, and Hugh Jackman said they wont do a third. I wonder why? Because its a fucking piece of shit series that no one is proud of. I would seriously much rather seen the animated series become an incredible movie. Oh well there goes the x-men movies. Fuck the movies period. I cant wait for the animated series to come on DVD. That would be sick because the x-men is more then just a fucking hour and 45 minute movie it is a saga between mutant and man and they did not portray that or the characters just. That is all

Wait... you hated X2, but you loved the old animated series? Well, there's no accounting for taste. You didn't like the story? Did you realize that it's based heavily on one of the most classic X-Men story arcs ever written: God Loves, Man Kills? But, I guess you know more about plot then Chris Clarmont, who pretty much created all of these storylines that comic fans grew up with. And where did you hear about Hugh Jackman not coming back if a third one gets made? And nobody being proud of it? What in the hell are you talking about? All are extremely proud of their work on X2, especially since it's been ranked as the best comic book movie to have come out. I can't stand it when comic fans are so anal about what they want to see on screen in a comic book movie.

The animated series is far better then the movies. I am extremely proud of the series not the movies. The movies were not great no matter what you say. They
sucked in my mind how dope the tv show and comics were. I stopped reading when wolverine got his adimatium torn out by magneto which was like 9 years ago. It's not about what I want to see onscreen its about being pleased during and after the movie so If X-2 is the greatest comic book movie off all time then someone needs to make another because it is unacceptable. The characters sucked period. The storyline wasnt great which means it sucked period.
The movies failed to me. And if you have problems with the old series that is poor taste. The x-men deserve a better movie. I discussed this with ten others. The show was better. The movie would have been better animated then what was produced. It was trash, doo doo whatever. The movie is not great, its not even that good. If you can watch X-men 2 twice in a row and want to watch it again and again go ahead I wont watch it because it fails in comparison. Lord of the rings was portrayed brilliantly. My father who knew the writer years ago used to watch the series with me said that the movies failed because the show was so great. Im not anal I just wanted a good xmen movie not the two pieces of crap labbled xmen.

The old animated TV show had some of the crappiest animation I've ever seen. I feel sorry for you if you didn't like the film. It had a good story, quality special effects which showed off the character's powers well, it really brought out the personalities of the characters well, and if you thought the characters sucked, then you must not have liked them in the books either. A couple of points:
- If you've read up to the point where Wolverine had his adamantium ripped out by Magneto, then you should have also read the God Loves, Man Kills story arc, which was written a good decade before the Onslaught story arc, when Logan had his big change. It is considered by comic book entusiasts to be a must-read X-Men story thread. If you haven't read it, pick it up. This is what the movie used as its base
- Yes, Lord of the Rings is brilliant... but what in the hell does that have to do with X2?
- The only good X-Men TV show to have been made is X-Men Evolution, which at first I thought would be terrible, but as the stories have progressed, I've reall enjoyed the writing and animation.
Whatever, it's all subjective anyway. My suggestion- don't EVER go see another comic book movie again. You're only going to be disappointed, unless you're the type of person who goes to see a comic book movie specifically to be disappointed just so you can thrash it.

Try watching the entire thing. Or watch Fellowship again and then watch Two Towers...
Or you can tell me what you didn't understand and I can explain it to you.

Very compelling argument... but guess what? It's all subjective and opinion based, so you case will never be closed.
By the way... try using the grammatical skills they taught you in elementry school and use punctuation.

For Lord of the Rings? I am always up for waching that... I'm actually waiting for The Return of the King Extended Edition to come out on DVD, and have an 11 hour marathon of back-to-back-to-back LOTR. My own personal triology Tuesday, except it'll probably be on like a Saturday, and it'll be better cause of the relaxability, bathrrom breaks, ability to order food, etc.

Be sure to watch the two discs of The Making of (discs 3 & 4), as well as the commentary. It brings a lot of stuff to light.
btw- you suck. I'd love to be at home watching some LOTR, but I am at work. le' RAH!

werd. the first one was unavoidably the most difficult movie for them to make and to get people to accept. they really had to do two things which unfortunately directly conflicted with each other:
1. introduce the characters and basic plotline
2. keep the people who love xmen entertained
in its own right, xmen paved the way for comic book movies. up to that point, there were hardly any adapted comics that were successful (and im talking super-hero type, and barring Superman). they took it seriously, they used the effects but didnt go overboard, etc...and the movie rocked.
then, x2. awesome. i mean, basically it was time to get to the heart of some of the issues that xmen really addresses. they do a good job keeping magneto a borderline villain. when you think about it, he has some very valid points and you cannot always blame him for his methods or values. they also address the irony of mutants as protectors of the very people who persecute them.
and the allusions to jane turning into phoenix were great.
and rob, couldnt have said all that better myself in your arguments with DGR or whoever that guy is. the animated series was cool at best, but did NO justice to the THEMES that xmen phenomena presents.

i agree, you gotta go in w/an open mind and buy into the movie versions. but i can understand when you follow something so closely in one format, and anticipate it jump to life on screen as you think/feel/loved it otherwise, only to have your expectations unmatched - it could be a real bummer.

Comic book movies- especially the X-Men (since they are dealing with multiple main characters)- have a very tough job. You have to appeal to an audience who has no idea who these characters are while at the same time making a movie for the hardcore fans. Not only that, but in many cases, you're dealing with 40+ years of history, need to flesh out everything, decide who you are going to use, and how you are going to use them, without everything getting convoluded. I am a huge X-Men fan. I enjoyed the first movie, and loved the second one. You just need to think of this as an alternate universe for these characters.
