Customs are so different in America. Growing up in Europe I found it a relief that a man would buy me a drink, and all he *usually* wanted was a nice little conversation. Its just the way things were, I usually turned them down, but they insisted.

Since I turned 21, I have always offered to buy friends drinks, and they have offered to buy me a drink (most my friends are male). I never felt I was using them, or that they wanted something in return, or ...blah, blah, blah. Its just a freakin drink.

Me and a couple of my old girlfriends thoughts were always, if you insist on buying me a drink...cool. But you won't get more than a conversation out of me, and no I am not "using" you. That was your decision.

I don't like girls who use guys for clothes and material objects, but I think drinks is a socialization tool.

As far as paying with friends goes...what I like to do is if say I go out to dinner with a friend...they get the bill, and next time you pay...sometimes it works really well, esp. if you're both on different pay schedules....because they can get you when they get paid and you are waiting for the $$ and reverse
