I was at Avalon NYC on Saturday. It was 18+ for girls & 21+ for guys. Also, they weren't allowing groups of guys in that didn't have any girls with them. This worked well for me because there were about 15 guys in front of our group so we got to cut the line. Once inside, the guys were patted down while the girls just walked right in.

Exactly.. the 18/21 policy significantly lowers the risk of clubbers experiencing the dreaded Sausage Party Syndrome (SPS) Plus you have less knuckleheads in there not buying drinks and taking up valuable dancing equity in the process.

i dont really mind the young guys, used to be one myself, and I guess I still think I am one if I'm trotting off to Buzz on Fridays. it would be nice however to go an over 21 party occassionally but obviously theres no $$ in that for venues like I enjoy. Unfortunately, Charlie, the age 18 is the uniform age of majority. 16 year olds can legally operate a motor vehicle weighing several 1,000 lbs. that can kill and maim. 18 year olds can marry, vote, and enlist in the military and fight and die for their country. All of the soldiers who rescused Jessica Lynch were under 21 years old, as is Pvt. Lynch, who is age 19. If a 18 year old can legally engage in the previously mentioned activities, which require a great deal of judgment and responsibility, then for God's sake he should be able to enter a club! There is a club here in Raleigh that has age restrictions of 25+ for men and 21+ for women to get in. Every once in a while they bring a dj into town and make it 18+ for everyone. That's even more sick because all of the 25+ usual crowd still comes but now instead of hitting on 21 year olds they can hit on 18 year olds. I think they should have an age limit of getting into a club, like no one over 35 can get it, because it's sad that they think they have a chance with an 18 year old anyways.

the 18/21 rule is sexist and it objectifies women. there should be no need for a club to bring in young girls and assure the guys that no younger bucks will be in their territory. and i say this even tho i'm a 20 y/o girl and i benefit from this system in a scene that is less and less tolerant of underagers.

btw, it sucks even more because i have a guy friend who i'd love to take to avalon but, even tho we're the same age, i would get in and he'd be kicked to the curb.

economically, it makes sense for the club. If you look at the clubs who use these policies, they really are commercial clubs that don't cater to the EDM scene anyway. They wany money and money only.......and this policy brings in the $$.

thats the point, we were 18 once and most, not all of the time, 18 years olds in an EDM club are acting silly and it aint cuz of the drinks they cant order at the bar.
