every kid who knows nothing about muze seems to love this guy but in my opinion he is not all that great I hated the Swordfish soundtrack and anything perfecto is trash so why all the hype when any cat with ten fingers can spin trance I wanna hear a Pual Oaks breakin effort and see his skill or maybe just some dnb w/no vocals but that day will never come bc of the lack of talent but I will admit to make up for his poor skill he does a good job with the fluff and wannabe rave glam he gets

No matter what you think about Oakenfold you must admit that he is doing SOMETHING right, because he is the world's most popular DJ. He is making more money than any DJ in the entire world. And just by being so popular he is almost single-handedly keeping the "popular" culture aware that EDM culture exists. And I think that without him millions of people would never even hear real EDM outside of Nsync's version of it, haha. And personally I want everyone on the planet to at least be introduced to the wonderfully intense music that is EDM.

No matter what you think about Nysnc, they must be doing SOMETHING right, because they are/were the world's most popular boy band. They have made more money than any other boy band in the entire world. And just by being so popular they have almost single handedly kept the "popular" culture aware that boy bands exist. And I think without them millions of people would never even hear the real pop music outside of Oakenfold's version of it, haha. And personally I want everyone on the planet to at least be introduced to the wonderfully intense music that is Top 40.

You know, I may nt like what he spins, but give the guy some respect. I don't like Brittany Spears' music, but I gotta say, she knows how to market, and good for her. (Plus, so hot...)
Anyway, I'm with all the peeps who say, PLUR now beyotch..

I will admit that he does have a following but music is subjective just because most of the world drools at the mere sight of someone is not going to get me a hardon for them I liked some of the tracks from dragonfly but other than those few the set was not a fave but I also generally don't give respect to an artist because they are famed rather for their technical acuity

As far as this board goes, you'll find a lot more posts like this one over "I Love Oakenfold!" posts.
Oakenfold fans aren't the only "zombies" here. Oakenfold haters are just as guilty.

thanks for a coherent thought.
paul oakenfold has done more for edm than you have done for the argument against him. If you put one of his tracks on in the middle of any given set at buzz, and whatever dj was up there just decided to stop spinning and let the oakenfold track play, i can guarantee that a) you wouldn't even know it was a paul oakenfold mix and b) you wouldn't stop dancing in favor of getting mad and hating it.
Stop expelling so much energy hating something that isn't even wrong. Go save some baby seals.

i'm not that big of an oakenfold fan.
but, i've been busting my ass promoting for wednesday night becuase if he can bring a good crowd, then thats really good for buzzlife. if people come and enjoy his set, then it helps get the word out about cubik and other buzzlife events. so if you dont like oakenfold, fine, dont come... but please dont hate and make my job harder.

And Oakenfold has played some of the best sets at buzz that I've ever heard. When he was there in 2000, I really thought I was going to die. Absolutely brilliant set.

Man i think Oakenfold is great... i have seen him at nations twice and he put on a good show the first time but the second time some of the vocals were too cheezy but he is one of the most popular djs... what do u guys think? Do you think this place will be packed on a wed night?

I am not trying to put a harsh on your job acid stars. I just made this thread to see if anyone out there even remotely agreed with me, and according to many of these posts they do in some way. Even if they can't see it, they just say they love him or whatever because of his vast success and popularity. On that same notion wouldn't they love a dictator for he would be rather well known too.

Oakie's music aside (I know that's what your thread's about, liquidking) but COME ON!............it's like The Streets said: "Respect to Johnnie Walker, Paul Oakenfold, Nicky Holloway, Danny Rampling, and all the people who gave us these times."
that is all.
