I used to love it on hfs.

What was it called. Trancemissions?

SCHLiTZ
2003-11-11, 08:43 PM
Trancemissions, yes. The weekly spot is now called Subterranian, and plays some pretty good mixes by headlining djs. I wish hfs would give more time to EDM, however this is very unlikely to happen.

i think Buzz should definitely bring back the live broadcast on HFS

it's a really good way to get so-called "mainstream" people to experience quality EDM that might not normally ever give Buzz a chance. you know, like help to spread the gospel!

SCHLiTZ
2003-11-11, 10:30 PM
this is very true.... although parties have flyers and such, not everyone gets them (selective placing). a little radio pr could bring in a lot of people and get more peeps hyped for EDM.

If you want DNB, Go buy some CD's and support the artists. When they come to Cubik go so you can hear them LIVE! :raveon:

besides, you'd be surprised by how many people still don't know that cübik is at nation again. a lot of people on my campus are like, "WHOA, really, when did that happen?" it would be a good way to let people in on that.

You know I used to love the live sets broadcast on HFS. I would often get friends to record them while I was at Buzz. However I think maybe the live broadcast brought in some of the crowd that perhaps caused problems? Not all who came to know Buzz thru HFS were of course involved in less than desirable acitivity, but I have to think that it perhaps contributed to it....just a thought.

Buzz sets are played on saturday from 12 to 7 a.m. if you got $100 get an xm boombox 10 bucks a month for the move, & bpm
otherwise if it is installed in your car your talking 200-400 depending It is the best radio system in the world wish i had it

yeah HFS needs to play EDM particularly Drum n Bass. Because in my opinion I think that DC is a Drum n Bass city. St. Louis is too but I say that because I was born there!

Just Imagine - Buzz on HFS

but the DC metro area is way more than that. sure dnb is good, but what kind of ratings will it pull in to make a clearchanel station play it???

not reading all the posts, but HFS sucks. Period, don't argue with me. Is it a hater comment yes, however, XM and hearing no commercials pwns all, and esp. when I was in NY, I could still hear buzz friday nights. That was the bizzle.

While I don't harbor the amount of hate sir rat has, I don't really like HFS much any more either, as all they music they play sounds the same. Also you can tell when a band's label is trying to push them on you becuse the DJ always says their name, like Modest mouse, what a shitty song. Well, I hardly listen to the radio anymore anyway because I have a car sterio that plays mp3's AND a gold mini ipod.

I'd get XM, but since I have an alipne sterio I need to buy their tuner and last time I looked it was $300. So I don't see myself getting that. It would be cool though.

I used to like the live Buzz sets on HFS just for the nights I couldn't get to the club. It was also cool leaving the club early for whatever reason and still being able to crank the music on the way home. Other than that I try to avoid the radio as much as possible because most of the new music out there sounds the same as it did 3 years ago, and it's all pretty much crap. Long live mp3 players!

Why not cut out the middle man? What the hell do we need HFS for? Record the sets and either stream them live via Shoutcast or something, or just put them up on the website/forum afterwards. It worked for another shall-remain-nameless-for-fear-of-reprisal DC club...

:werd: to the third....

as for the death of FM, I don't see it happening within our lifespans. AM/FM saturation is too high and is too accesible (read: cheap) to go away. They thought that cable would be the death of Network TV but it's still there because believe it or not, some people don't have cable or satellite TV the same way some people only have am AM/FM radio in their car. Also I think even if music totally left the AM/FM bands there would still be plenty of talk radio stations out there.

on a side note: I can't comprehend how one could listen to talk radio all day long. That would make anyone turn to millitaism.

xm would take over fm if it was free... but other than that it's not capable of happening... there are too many poor people (hence cable rateings cannot compare to free tv rateings)

but as far as buzz on hfs goes, that shit used to be cool.. fuck that subteranian shit

All the other big cities have established EDM stations, Miami, NY, LA, Detroit, Chicago even, we need at least one here, since our underground scene at one point was the biggest of all of these. Can we speculate as to why in the nations capitol there are none????? Because it's the nations capitol of course and all the damn politicians that jump on the anti-edm bandwagon. My english teacher was talking about Joe Biden (the senator mainly responsible for pushing the crack-house laws against edm) the other day and she mentioned many things he's done in the past that were like the publicity stunt type of things that pop stars have been doing lately to get themselves in the news. I don't see how his anti-edm crap is any different. It's a new form of publicity and mad cheaper too for celebreties or politicians, y pay someone to promote???? Just do something scandalous!!! Peace all :bowasian:

true that spiggy, from what I've heard it tends to be the more commercial crap, but hey, look at Radio 1, the majority is crap because the majority of the music even we find as DJ's is crap, the better DJ's just sort through the crap and find what they like. Like once a week they'll have an awesome mixer or pair of DJs step up and rock the shit out of it and make a name for themselves, but that's what rocks. We'll get to be at that point in America sometime in the near future, you can take that to the bank bro!! :D

yeah, me +1 for the week on good points. I hear Maxwell House, main DJ for BPM Channel 81 say welcome the listeners of xx.x in xxxxxxx city. Enjoy BPM since you no longer have a dance station. It's happening all over the country. I've heard many of these little anouncements in the two years (+/- few months) I've had XM. Besides, XM has more bass, and it's digital, not crappy FM quality either. OH AND NO FREAKING COMMERCIALS!!!!!
