One of my next jobs in line was a cashier at "Record and Tape Traders". God I miss that job.

Description of daily duties:
*rummage through new and used cd's
*flip cd's back for a nice appearance
*play with the little novelties
*take turns picking out cds to listen to
*B.S. with very eccentric customers
*occasionally ring someone up.

Ever see "Empire Records"? yeah, that was basically it. Minus the suicide attempts and shooting customers.

Damn I miss the simple days.

I know right, it was a bad choice on my part. But it was this small family owned one and my Stepmom was friends with the owner, so they hired me without asking any questions. I was okay for awhile, like the husky boys were cute, but then we'd get these evil spawn of Satan children and it was too much to handle. It was good for my Stepmom though they still give her my employee discount 5 yrs later!

Oh, I could handle babysitting for a family. Max 3 kids. Daycare would insinuate age levels from birth to 5. Say you have 10 of any age in that bracket. I would pull my hair out.

My optimum age for babysitting is 8-11. Those ages rock.

I seriously considered this when I was a stay at home mom.  Unfortunately when you are with the father of your kids, the benefits from the gov't are few and far between, so getting a job outside of my home was financially impossible.

I tested it out with one of my friends kids (she worked, I stayed home, we split the paycheck).  Her kids were 6 months older than mine, and 14 months apart (my kids are 14 months apart as well).

I was homicidal after the first week.

Honestly though, daycare workers make BANK.  Just run something out of your home.  Hire two or three aides.   Most people charge $400 a week per kid under a certain age.  You have 5-6 kids.......

Mokey

There was a rickety stool to sit on and absolutely nothing else to do- after four or five hours by yourself you start opening calendars. Doesn't matter because nobody ever buys them anyway. Whenever someone browsed you were to assist them.

The most revolting specimens would come up and ogle the thumbnails pictures on the backs of all the more risque calendars.

I just couldn't bring myself to offer assistance to these horrible, disheveled men leering at tiny, semi-revealing shots of Carmen Electra. I just wanted them to go away and preferably die.

Retail is possibly the worst thing I've ever had to do. Except for that time I was Dave's boss. Heh.

My first job was working door at a club back in 90, i was a gutter punk and the owner of a club i used to hang at took a chance and gave me a job, i ended up spinning there and later managing the place while he moved on to new projects, it was a great job
