Rob is correct, the next Final Fantasy title to come out for ps 2 is going to be FF X-2.. where Yuna goes off to save Tidus from his captors.

FF XI is came out for PC's earlier this week though, and one of the features boasted by Square Soft is that PC gamers and PS2 Gamers can interact.. so technically, if you wanted to get a head start, you would buy this for your computer.

Just flexing my geek knowledge.

Looks pretty bad ass tho.. Both of the games, but I like the online aspect of XI..

Yakko Red
2003-10-31, 05:06 PM
To be honest, the online aspect of FF XI makes me look ahead to XII. Not big into online cooperative shit...

X-2 is going to be cool because it's the first final fantasy ever to acutally be a sequel to another FF storyline. Characters, as far as names and personalities go, have been used over and over.. but never the same exact universe with characters and places.

I'm stoked... all I have to do now is buy a PS 2 and I'm in buisness.

Ragin Bajin
2003-10-31, 05:17 PM
Totally understandable..

I wouldn't buy a PS2 just yet...

On slashdot there was an article saying that a Target Employee reported that Sony is going to drop the price of the PS2 to 99 bucks..

Here's a link to the story if interested..

Final Fantasy..the game where you wade thru hours upon hours of repetitive gameplay, with overly-long and contrived magic attacks that do like .0002 damage on the magical winged newt.

The game where you play thru the same, boring crap just to see another 3 hour long cutscene. Dont get me wrong, the story and cutscenes are pretty cool..id rather just sit back and watch it as amovie rather than have to slaughter halpless woodland creatures to get to each scene.

RPG's are def not for everyone, no biggie, but has anyone read up on the article for FF Chronicles (I think it was called) for the Gamecube? it was in an EGM magazine. The weird thing was that this FF called for Coop play...

Yakko Red
2003-10-31, 05:32 PM
I was just kidding, I haven't read about any FF titles coming for Gamecube.. then again, my video game fu is weak right now.

Rumor has it that FF might be going to Xbox as well.

That would be awesome, i'd rather buy an xbox than a ps 2 to be honest.

Well let me know on the computer. I am rebuilding a new on myself, just for this game.. Just ordered a New MB.. I found a new guild for this game if we are interested.. They pointed me to the right server and such where there are a lot more English Speakers on.. I just picked up the game today too..

The world pass thing is pretty easy but when you create your character you can just delete him and recreate till you get on the right server...

Yes no more three tanks.. I am calling the Red Mage..

Cool, you got my IM last night, so we'll figure out what I should get for my PC I'll build. I'll probably go warrior or monk, and then switch jobs at lvl 30. Let me know about that guild too. And create / delete / recreate sounds okay, just wondering how it'll go cycling through 24 servers.

I haven't "let myself" play any FF game since FF 7, I value my sleep, job, and girlfriend too much... but I've been having very very serious thoughts about buying it all for this game, PS 2, network adaptor, and FF XI.

Okay...without any spoliers...

FFX2 picks up 2 years after Yuna started the calm. Machina have entered into public use. Three large factions have grown in power across Spira...New Yevon (scary scary), The Youth League (formerly the Crusaders), and The Machine Faction (comprised of many Al Bhed).

Yuna found a sphere which seemed to have video of Tidus on it and that's where the game starts with her looking for more information.

What can I say about how much I love this game. I'm a HUGE fan of FFX, it being my fave FF game, and FFX2 didn't let me down. I was really worried it was gonna be fightin barbies, but it's anything but. The dress sphere system is awesome. The graphics are as good as always and if you were ballin your eyes out at the end of the last game like I was, then you'll love this story.

So far my friend and I have only gotten 2 of the endings, but I believe there's somewhere between 3 and 5 endings total.

If you liked FFX, then you'll love this one.

Get it...it's awesome.

It has a very funky, 70's Charlie Angels kinda feel to it. It's just cool as hell.

So...I'll stop giving SquareEnix a sloppy wet blowjob now and just say I highly recommend it.

Oh and the New Game Plus feature is the shit. Once you beat it the first time, you can start a new game with all the abilities, money, and items you aquired int he first game.

However, you're still at 1st level at the beginning of the game.

I'm playing FF XI via my PS2, and on the same server with Ragin, plus a pack of others that have regrouped and reformed IHeartUnicorns. I love it. Only thing is I wish the screen was bigger; if I was on a PC I would have a bigger resolution and be able to see more.

Ok, sorry to bring up a very old thread first of all. But I am in desperate need of a new game because I am the grandmaster at Rise of Nations and only a few people can beat me online now so it is getting boring.

I was considering buying this game but from my understanding it has a monthly charge to play. So, is it worth it? My friend was trying to get me to buy the game and join him in a plethora of wasted hours, sore eyes and fingers, and good times gaming. So, obviously I have his input. How bout you guys?

Basically if I should get it, id be getting it for the PC. Should I buy this one or is there a newer version coming out soon?

FFXII isn't supposed to come out until Fall 2005 (spring 05 for a japanese release). And I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back, a year ago it was supposed to have been already by now.

Xenosaga II is definitely hitting in february, apparently there's a deal where if you pre-order it, you get a bonus disc w/ it that has over 4 hours of movie scenes from the 1st one that string together the story of what has already happened.

I had no idea all you guys played FF games, except Cliff. That's awesome. And for some reason I never saw this thread until now.

Oh yeah. I knew you played 'em too, i think you had an FF avatar somewhat recently.
I grew up on them as well. Played FF1 in 5th grade! :)

I haven't played 11 either. I've actually never played a mmorpg. I know plenty of people who think completely the opposite, but i personally prefer the story-driven ones as prefered to the open ended style. And paying monthly fees blows.

I'm sure 12 will be vicious. I just hope they bring back the world map, the way the airship worked in X and X-2 was lame.

I won't go all in to it, but there are at least 5 major storylines in FFXI; there are missions that drive these storylines, and they're actually really good. The main 3 are based around the 3 countries you can be a citizen of, and you can actually switch citizenship and do missions for all 3. Then there were the two expansion packs (so far), which each have their own missions; Rise of the Zilart and the newer Chains of Promathia.

Then there are quests, which are another part of the game. I'm hooked on it because the game is not just exp grinds like some MMO's. And I'm fine with a monthly fee if I feel like I'm getting my money's worth; new content is added every few months, but there is so much in the game you're not going to see it all in a coupe months. Plus there are 15 jobs in the game, and you can change between them and try different things out on one character.
