I am really unsure about this movie. Great concept, and when it was done in the comics, it was really good. Batman Dead End was a nice sample, but this one... I don't know. It's directed by Paul "Soldier/ Resident Evil/ Mortal Kombat" Anderson.. the man has a legacy of making campy movies. Especially when you campare him to the previous Alien directors: Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. I think I'll wait to hear how the reviews are before I see this one. I hope it's as dark as it deserves to be.

This movie idea has been abanonded like 6 or 7 times since the early 90's. I have been dying to see see this made into a movie sence the comics first came out. I think the director should have a nice challenge ahead of himself. It was not his fault Resident Evil was a huge flop I blame Hollywood on that due to the huge story stanges in the movie. As far has this story line is concerned this is going to be insane can't wait.

Also may I add it looks like the director actually is going to be the director as opposed to hollywood ruining this movie with their ideas. Thank god this story line is going to kick ass hopefully it will be open for sequels. Prey to the Aztec gods this movie does not suck. Must find a human for sacrafice.

People people have faith I know that is a hard thing to ask especially after the last Alien movie. So far this seems to be a movie that will conquer all in both series. Maybe its just been so easy for me to buy into it I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully they into a good story like they have in the featurette if not this movie will be 2 hours of non stop alien killing with no plot. I guess having to wait 8 months is a good thing that way I can follow production and see where they are really going. God I can not wait for the first trailor I have waited since the 5th or 6th grade to see this movie I am 24 now so that should show you how long its been since the comics where first released.

hmm good quesion. since they're gonna be in antarctica, that suggests they're not going to be in present time. the first Alien movie mentions "Antartica Control" as a sort of air traffic control for space ships. and concidering that theres hundreads of year between the first one's setting and the setting in Resurrection, I'm not really sure it matters. I'd imagine they'll pick something hwere humainty dones't yet have knowledge of either species. It's spookier that way :OD

You have to be kidding me this is when the Company gets their first interest in the Alien race. The fact that Bishop Whalen has been written in to the story means they are at least trying to make the stories come together for once instead of just having it all over the place...

Movie 1 - Meet Mr. Xenomorph. One human escapes. The end.
Movie 2 - Human from movie 1 gets rescued. Throughouly discusses the events of previous movie. Return to where we encountered Xenomorph ship. Oh shit there's more. Blow em up, run away.
Movie 3 - Ship they escaped on on movie 2 gets fucked up. Creates havoc on prison planet. Ripley dies. The end.

I don't see the lack of continuity.

Actually, that was the script they had originally written for the movie. The one that's been in the wings for years. They didn't use it for this movie.

However, I read the novel they had of that story and the script and frankly, I'm pissed they didn't use the original.

In movie 1, it was my understanding that the corporation made it's decisions based on intercepting the distress beacon that it had intercepted and the information it had obtained from it. The didn't know a lifeform was their previously, but had hoped there was so they could have a specimen for study and potential as a bio weapon.

However, I'll watch it again tonight and reconfirm this.

funny enough, video games have actually been catering more and more to adults (grand theft auto, manhunt, soldier of fortune etc) and the video game industry generates more billions annually than all of hollywood.

Shows that if you produce QUALITY R rated entertainment the money will come in. Hollywood depends too much on the summer teenagers to generate money..but maybe if hollywood didnt mass produce crap they wouldnt have to rely on intellectual and culturual imbeciles to ensure they make their lexus payments.

Production companies are scared to give films as R rating because they can't make enough money in the box office. The majority of people that see movies multiple times are teenagers and teenagers can't get into R rated movies, not even with a parent anymore. On the thread topic, I will be seeing this opening weekend eventhough I expect it to be mediocre at best.

well i just gotta say sorry to spiggy for argueing against the pg-13 rating. I saw this yesterday and after buying the tickets noticed they said pg-13 on them.. and yes, it's considerably less violent then what we're used to with predator and aliens. That being said, the duels that go on between the aliens and the predators are pretty darn cool and even though it's not very strict towards teh avp comic, there are some correlations towards the end.

and yes, predators fucking own, they've got nukes just in case shit gets out of hand.

I saw the movie and I have to say, I fell asleep. There is too much story and not enough violence. The battles were cool though.I missed the part between where they find the hole in the ice and when the predator marks him/her/itself with the alien blood.

Also, I'm not sure what the timeline looks like between the alien movies, the predator movies and this movie but I think it would be best to not think about that...

DH was bad, but leaps and bounds above Reign of Fire. I mean...they couldn't even get the proportions of the dragons in RoF right. The main dragon changed sizes easilly 6 different times in the movie.

Okay...I just got back from seeing this.

I am having a mixed reaction.

It didn't suck as much as I thought it would, but that's about the best I can give it. It had a lot of coolness potential. Where exactly they were diggeing at Teohuican, I don't know, but it could have been a lot cooler.

If I'm watching a movie with Predators and Aliens fighting and only once do I go..."Oh...that was tight..." there's something wrong.

I saw it, thought it was very very fun..i'd watch it again. The riupley replacement I liked..her sword and shield were BAD-ASS AS SHIT...the alien vs predator fights were awsome, i liked the overall plot and backstory, it was essentially resident evil: alien vs predator edition..no suprise considering it's the same director.
