happy hardcore sorta requires that everyone who is listening to it be in, not only a happy, but a certain KIND of happy mood in order for them to enjoy it.... you know, the bouncy, PLURry, bubbly sorta mood. like when you're in love. i'm more partial to the old skool HARDCORE.... cuz those beats still rock like no other!

hahaha my friends used to play cyberpunk...like a long time ago. it was always seeming like to much effort to me. :shrug:

We need more hardcore in general :). But yeah, more happy hardcore would be good. People enjoy it when they hear it.. like at the dcskillz parties, but then they'll say they don't like it. heh.

oh. and deejay holiday did play at cubik last week.. that's probably the only time you'll hear happy hardcore there ;).

I know happy hardcore is hard to take sometimes, but if I am at a party chances are I am in a pretty good mood and have lots of energy so its perfect! I saw Anabolic Frolic at the Tunnel in May, so much fun. Let's get DJ Brisk, his parties are INCREDIBLE!

Yeah, brisk has only been there once. I've seen him a couple times though. He's always been one of my favorite djs :D. Dcskillz have booked quite a few good happy hardcore and hardcore djs though.. with the exception of frolic and rob gee :P.

There just isn't a big enough group of hardcore kids pushing for that hardcore sound.
I think if Cubik WERE to throw a HHC night, it would be rather empty... just cause most of us hardcore fiends don't really .... live.... here...... :shrug:

I never said that would happen. Hardcore isn't a main room thing around here. Though, it's hard to get people to even think about supporting it when people who even like hardcore have that kind of attitude.

On a side note, I think people should keep throwing little HHC parties around the area... I heard Seth threw one not that long ago..
Build up a fan base around here, and then we'll work on more hardcore in the big rooms!!! Yay!

Toronto is fun. I'd like to go back there sometime. I wanna check out San Francisco too.. from what I hear they have good parties out there too for happy hardcore. Actually... there are a bunch of other places that book happy hardcore djs. Just not here.

Thank you so much for posting this! I spin HHC and it seems as if I'm hated on by tons of tranceheads and househeads. So, it feels good to know that someone still likes it out there! The only other people I knew that liked Hardcore were the other dj's on Ravers Only, besides me :delirious:

who is dj candy kid and where is he from?
candy kid (aka Slava), Dj Holliday, and I used to be on Ravers Only which also had MC Jumper and Bezerker on it. Was a nice crew, but the owner threw in the towel last year, so we've all kind of dispursed. Slava is a GREAT dj, and he lives up in NY. I bump into him now and then, but I haven't seen Holliday since Starscape. JUmpers still doing his thang, and Bezerker is too from what I've heard.
Anywho, Dj Candy Kid = Slava = in NY

I was there that night too, for a long time it was one of the best parties I had ever been too. Micro was fucking awesome that night, and I can dig on some happy hardcore every now and then. It was the last party I went to with my boyfriend before he moved back to Texas, it was an awesome way to spend our weekend together.

the vocals only sound like "squirrels" if it's a really bad, off-tempo remix. you should check out the group, Dune... it's old skool hardcore on the happy and fast side, but they've got a vocalist who actually sings in a reasonable vocal range, and although much of their music is fast, it doesn't "feel" fast due to the production.

a lot of the 'happy' hardcore out now isn't quite as happy as the cheesy stuff people usually think of. and the vocals don't sound like squirrels :).

Come on, there's like 15 happy-hardcore producers in the world, well big ones anyway.
Happy-Hardcore is more tolerable if there's other hardcore to balance it out, freeform, breakbeat, etc.

Happy Hardcore is like having a very eccentric, ADD, color blind Mistress... when you love her.. OHHHH DO YOU LOVE HER.. Hard.. and FAST! But then youre like "bitch get out of my face" and she wont, so you become bitter for periods of time and hate her with a burning passion. But, when u want her back- shes ready and willing and too braindead to remember your quarrels.
If HHC came to Cubik.. i would be to overwhelmed to do much aside from bounce and laugh hysterically at the situation at hand...
