oh, second question-- any suggestions on where to record the thing now that metatrack and the studio are gone?

My home set-up blows for recording.

Breaks and Hard dance go together well believ it or not. My friend spins breaks and we always TAG. HE plays my records and I play his. Try it once, if you already havent.

I'd have to play all my breaks records at +7 :)

slow down that damn hard dance shit! :D

seriously, techno and breaks go really well together at about 130-135 bpm. energetic prog too...

Yeah, work it all and ramp up the pitch... do two CDs like you said, if you want. =.)

(An' send me a copy when it's done? :puppydog: )

I hate breaks so I vote for either of the other two. Actually I'm not even sure what hard dance is, so I vote for some progginess.

Actually I've been very piqued since John said he was spinning at Japone. My vote -> downtempo!! :D

So far the results look pretty evenly split, which only means one thing... you've got to use 'em all! :D

hate breaks? I hope you don't consider breaks to be all that florida funky crap...there's some really subliminal stuff out there....mostly prog/breaks and nu-skool electro...really.

I don't get hard dance...It always sounds like the dj is slam fucking the speakers.

I say mix breaks and prog. Most interesting sound. Bangin stuff is cool for about 20 minutes, but good progressive/breakbeat/electro/deep stuff gets better with each listen.

No, I've heard a wide range of breaks. I used to spin breaks about 4-5 years ago and one of the people in my SF crew spun breaks in addition to d&b. I'm not saying there are *no* good breaks, but there are very few breaks djs/producers that I like.

Okay, the people have spoken...

I'm doing a two CD set, one with deeper breaks and progressive, and a 2nd with harder breaks and trancier progressive.

In case anyone cares :)
