Released today!
Picked it up at Best Buy for $26, but it came with a CD of their soundtrack music and all 9 animations. :woot: You can get just the DVD portion for $14.

After seeing it I can say
1) It's really fucking cool
2) It should have come out before the movie hit theaters. It would have helped make more sense out of things without ruining anything in the movie.

All the movies did come out before the movie was released, just not on DVD.

Wow...i just finished watching it...i must say the segment called BEYOND was excellent..the one with the haunted house...beautiful. It's got that new style of anime where they use VERY subtle shading for a more realistic look, not as much primary colors. The Digimon movie used it extensively.
but yeah the entire DVD is great.

I just saw it last night. "Beyond" was really good, was into the whole look of it, and I liked how the sentinel runners looked in "Marticulated."

Can someone explain what the fuck was going on in Matriculated to me?
Not the plot, just what the dream sequence was all about..

They created a matrix for the robot, and basically manipulated it so it would help them. It looked super warped. I guess the whole sequence was the humans way of turning the robot and making it crave whatever it got from the experience, hence the freaking out at the end.
I think it was a way to show the machines what the humans were going through being trapped in the matrix, and to get them to help the humans. And remember at the end when the last machine standing, the one they put through the matrix, took the girls place on the shore to watch for other machines? He wanted to show them what he was shown, so they could break free from the evil they were causing. Or something like that.

It was a program designed to convince robots to join the humans. When the human who the robot connected with (on an emotional level) died at the end, it was essentially heartbroken.

I just watched the Animatrix for the first time ever today - don't ask me why it took me this long to do it! Anyways, I thought it was brilliant - several of the animation styles were really quite beautiful - and I totally enjoyed "The Second Rennaissance pts.I and II".
I went to see "Dreamcatcher" in the theatres just so I could catch "Final Flight" but I'd totally slacked on getting to see the rest of the series.
Yay!
