DUB WAR
w/ SHORTSTUFF + XI

All the way from the UK, the Blunted Robots co-conspirator (along with Brackles and Martin Kemp), and all-around hard-jackin badboy DJ Shortstuff makes his Dub War debut. His signature blend of dubstep, grime, funky, breakbeat and progressive trance (joking) have found fans worldwide, and his skills behind the decks have turned heads. Check his XLR8R mix and releases on Ramp, Berkane Sol, Punch Drunk, and his own Blunted Robots label.

He's joined by Toronto's finest, XI, whose production talents are becoming favorites of savvy dubsteppers. Still criminally under-recognized, watch out for him making waves this year.

As a student of graphic design, delphine's work makes me wonder what the hell I'm doing.

She is SO good!

@ Mike - agreed. Delphine is amazing. She went with Dave and me to Portugal a couple of weeks ago...great times. Good to catch up with her. She also did the cover of the latest Big Up Magazine.

I need to check one of these sometime. Decoy what do you find more appealing about these parties than the local dubstep lineups? The sound systems? Artists?

The artists really. People come through dubwar that don't usually come around these parts. Every now and then there will be an awesome lineup, mostly brought together by the 88 crew, that intrests me. For example: Untold and Ramadanman. Plus the dubwar residents are top notch too. I've never seen Joe reach for a shit tune.

Honestly arists like 16 bit and Borgore irriatate me. Rusko is ok though. And jakes too. For some reason his tunes are quite enjoyable. For example: in tha place to be. Mary Anne Hobbs dropped that one and the place went BERZERK!

Long story short: if I go to starscape it'll be for the bands, strangely enough.

That's cool man. The funny thing is how the trends work...its likely that in a few years the kinds of names that are popular now in the UK and that UK funky style that you showed me will be the rage here as a new style is developing in Europe lol...we always seem to be a couple steps behind.

I agree with Mike. Plus the LOVE system kicks ass, best system in the northeast by far. Though i have to admit, I haven't been up to Dubwar in a minute cause I'm broke and shit, but once I get my tax break back, I'll swing up there again this summer sometime. The lineups up there don't really have the "brostep" element to them. I like some of that stuff, but all brostep all the time gets annoying to me as I like a mixup of all sorts of stuff. Also, I tend to listen to deeper stuff than what has been booked around here lately. Me and Whizeguy tend to have similar tastes, so you know where I'm coming from. Plus I HATE travelling to DC, I get lost every fucking time I go there.
