I'll be mixing Downtempo from 7-8.
Straight sexy business.
No rewinds & no talking on the mic.

LMAO!
That's not a token LMAO either, that really made me laugh.
I wish I had some Ladies Man samples to play over the mix.

I must mimic Dub-G's sentiments. I will also be playing the sexy DnB, little talk, all smooth shit.
Very good DnB tonight with various new bits. Going to get jazzy and funky for a bit, definately playing this song:

I've begun the process of recording my vinyl to my computer. As you might expect, this is not fun at all.

It f'ing blows!!!
I've set out to do it a couple times using various configurations and have yet to come up with sound quality that I'm happy with.

James gave me some suggestions on hardware to buy in order to do a good job with it. So I ended up getting a relatively inexpensive sound interface and I bought some nice audio cables as well. The most annoying part is I'm using the new beta version of Audacity which blowwwwwwws.
But James will be happy to hear I'm saving these all as .flac and not .mp3.

Yeah, I wish I hadn't gotten into DJing about 8 years later than I did.

Let me know what you rip Eric. If I can save you some doubles, and vice versa, then lets do it.

But then you'd be a newb like me, without all the fame and glory...

I haven't really developed a process yet. Right now I'm just trying to get through the records that were already sitting next to my tables. Once I get through those, I'll start working on each cubby hole in my record shelf. I'm thinking Tru Playaz are up next.

That's pretty much how I've started out. I still have a lot of the "sitting out" piles to encode, and then I'll start on the shelves of dnb. Also splitting the record in to "MUST KEEP" and "Want to sell"... so, if anyone is looking for some dnb vinyl, let me know and I'll see if I have your wants and/or get a list of stuff up ASAP.

Look at the etching near the middle of the record, and then go on rolldabeats.com and search by catalog number.

I've been meaning to do this myself, though I have about 1500 records to go through, :whoa: and many are full length albums, like a lot of my hip hop
I think I need more hard drives. Not sure how to go about it without making my tunes sound like ass, plus the vinyl just sounds better IMHO.

I, too, am jumping on the record to digital bandwagon. But I'm starting with the pieces I don't play much, if at all, anymore. Then slinging them on Discogs.
Haven't started yet, so don't know about sound quality issues. I was just gonna go straight from my mixer into my iriver HD320 as WAVs.

Duh. I don't know why I didn't think to do that earlier. http://www.rolldabeats.com/release/dispatch_recordings/dis028/
That was it.
I had been actually using rolldabeats.com this whole time to get the names and catalogs for my vinyl. Not sure why I didn't think to do this too.
Thanks Harry.

I'd recommend going the route I did if you're concerned about sound quality and getting an external sound card that does all the analog to digital conversion for you and then you just interface with that device via USB. Aside from that, just get some nice cables to run from your mixer to the a2d converter and make sure you got some clean needles and records.
