I guess so. I don't really care for Laptop djing. I mean using Serato is one thing, but pre-cueing up all of your songs, having a program match all of your songs while you stand around and occasionally add a vocal or something is another. Why don't you remix the song at home or in your hotel room and play the new version at the club?

remixing on the fly compared to playing a remix? i dunno... i mean, you can test a bar or two on the fly and if it is blowing up the floor continue and build up on it... mark all the parts to songs harmonically, and use music theory combined with reading crowd energy to create totally new shit on the random... so much more technical stuff going on ... this isnt about mixing mp3 files digitally, but having all the parts to tunes and doing it on the fly -- nothing like serato, traktor or anything else for that matter. it is the next level djing TBH, and has nothing to do with pre-cueing and just standing around - especially if you are jamming a bar of something and dont know what u are gonna drop for the next bar, and so on and so forth. Remixing on the fly makes djing with vinyl and cd's seem easy as fuck.

hmmm, he's using NI Machine live. Thats pretty wicked. Its basically GURU with a hardware equivalent that lets you make beats on the fly. Pretty cool if actually used

I would love to get into something like this .. I find myself trying to always add a third and fourth cdj to accomplish this with various acappellas and basslines .. but it def isnt the same at all .. I think I would devour something like this if I got my teeth on it .. But alas times are tight .. and I do not have a laptop ..

great concept . . . although DJing with parts is not really DJing in a traditional sense, it is more of a live performance if you are mixing everything on the fly

its like the Grateful Dead, they never played a song the same way twice

if you had your tracks in parts and put together the parts live, your song will retain a common theme but different each time . . . and thats a good thing

i would guess this something more suited to producers

i don't think that a DJ that does not produce would be interested in breaking down elements of songs and remixing them, if they had an interest in and did it they would be producing / remixing tracks, taking it to the next level . . .
