L.A.'s Crystal Method have been referred to as America's answer to the Chemical Brothers. A dance-based electronic duo with a definite rock band feel, the comparison would seem appropriate, although it tends to erase what makes the group distinct: a solid base in American hip-hop, rock, soul, and pop. Formed in 1993 by Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland, Crystal Method is the most recent stop in a string of projects that led them from their native Las Vegas (and some forgettable four-track stabs at vocal house music), to the early-'90s L.A. rave scene. Drawn in by its youthful idealism, Jordan and Kirkland became absorbed by L.A.'s underground club culture and began knocking out tracks inspired by their experiences.

im interested in seeing the opener. the last time they toured live and came to 9:30, hyper was the opener, and to be honest, as great as they were, hyper blew them out of the water.

he seriously crushed it that night. not to say they werent good, but he was just phenomenal.

im willing to bet the opener this time will be more subdued than he was.

My first "rave type" event was in spring '98 and it was crystal method live with BT live as na opener. This was not laptop BT either, it was all hardware and synths, it was crazy. Then they had DJs playing all night until 6am (David Holmes/Taylor) and the whole thing was at 9:30 club. I've never heard from anyone else who was there that night either which is crazy to me.

Awesome show! The four of us went to dinner before heading over so we caught the last 30 minutes of the opening act who was ok. Anybody know why Danger wasn't there? I looked on TCM's site the day before and they said that Danger had done his last show with them a few day earlier. If you're gonna not have him at a show the least you should do is not have him listed on the tickets as playing.

Anyways back to TCM. Their set was awesome. Kind of wished that the opening song "Drown In The Now was played live instead of a music video and that they had at least Matisyahu there to sing during it. But all the new songs they played sounded really good. I'm still trying to figure out if the music cut out during high roller or if they meant for it to sound like it did.
