you can pay a surcharge and get a room alone, otherwise you will be paired with someone. we have a travel agent working with us that can help make the pairs. (ie you request gender & age and can even request it be someone from DC)

if you and a friend are going, can you request to be in the same room?

im not sure if i like the "being paired up with" method.. if im on vacation, the last thing i wanna do is wind up stuck in a room with someone i dislike.

-so are there other expenses? food, booze, other things that are legal in international waters?
food is included. booze are not. if it is illegal in the US, it is illegal on the boat.

-what kind of currency works on the boat/island we land on? boat = us dollars. check out the "access to money" section - http://carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/FAQLanding.aspx

In The Bahamas, the legal tender is the Bahamian dollar (B$), which is equivalent in value to the U.S. dollar. Even though The Bahamas mint and circulate their own legal tender, both U.S. and Bahamian dollars are accepted interchangeably throughout the islands.

Visitors from the U.S. enjoy the convenience of not having to exchange currency before leaving for vacation.

-will i even need to bring currency or is it all inclusive? you do not HAVE to bring money. but if you want booze or to gamble or buy pictures or rent a tux you need money (you can use credit cards and not bring any cash)

-are there any stupid "no nudity" rules?
i do not want naked people running around the boat.

most of your questions can be answered by going to the carnival FAQ - http://carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/FAQLanding.aspx

Do you have luggage restrictions? http://carnival.com/Images/spacer.gif Guests are encouraged to limit their checked luggage to two suitcases per person, with each suitcase not to weigh more that 50 pounds and not exceed 16"h x 24"w x 30"length. Please attach your Carnival Cruise Lines luggage tags PRIOR to leaving home and make sure that they are still on your bags when checking in with us. In many ports, guests have the option of carrying luggage on board at embarkation and off the ship at the end of the cruise as long as it does not exceed 24"w x 16"h. This is an advantage you may want to consider as it will allow for quicker easier access to your bags.

LARGE COOLERS RESTRICTION:
Carnival Cruise Lines does not allow guests to bring large coolers on board its vessels. Small, personal-sized coolers no larger than 12” x 12” x 12” for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage. Screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process and therefore large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage.

Please note that Carnival assumes no responsibility for carry-on luggage. Alternatively, curbside porters are available at the pier to take luggage to the vessel for delivery to your stateroom by shipboard personnel. Customary tip is $1 per bag. Please be sure each piece of luggage is locked and has a tag listing your name and stateroom number. Curbside porters are not employees of Carnival; therefore, if you experience any problems, please report them to porter management on site. Any luggage left at the pier will be forwarded at your expense. Claims for luggage loss or damage must be made in writing to the debarkation personnel prior to leaving the pier area.

If you are traveling by air, please remember that each airline has its own luggage restrictions on the maximum number, size, and weight of bags allowed per person. You are responsible for contacting you airline to learn about their individual luggage restrictions and policies.

why would all of you fly there? just look into going in on rentals and drive. it'd be cheaper per person to rent a van that can carry like 5 to 7 people. miami's not that far of a drive. hell, i've done it myself in one shot, in a late 70's camper that wouldn't go more than 55 mph.

They allow a single 750ml bottle of wine or champaign to be brought on board. For those of you who wish to save $$, and take a bottle of liquor, here is an idea. Find a friend who makes wine. Use thier corker to re-cork a bottle of wine once your liquor of choice has been added. I make wine, and of course own a corker, if anyone from the Roanoke area needs this service, you know where to find me :) Everyone going should have a bottle of "wine" going with them...

Questions:

1) Will we be able to purchase penthouse suites? I am gathering they are already taken, but was wondering if one or two might be available.

2) Will there be dubstep? Please say yes. If not, I will be a sad panda. (You know who to talk to about this :)~ ) I have a feeling something mutual(and possibly more in your favor) can be agreed upon due to the pure fucking awesome that this event will be.

3) What, if any, formal dinners are planned? And will they be black tie or simply coat and tie?(don't rent a tux on board, get it before hand. May be a bit more expensive, but it will fit far better)

4) How secluded is the spot where we will be having the beach party? Will we be able to wander around the Island a bit if we tire of the party?

5) If we get a room for single occupancy, can we change it at a later date to handle a guest? I am gathering the agent will be able to answer this, but I am just curious.

2) my family of lushes has always brought liquor on board ships with no problem. my thought has always been if it's packed in my luggage and they want to take it away they can. drinks on board can be quite expensive.

I've been on this boat before, but I sailed from Tampa to the Caymens to Mexico. The fact that this is a bahamas cruise is beneficial to anyone who has never been on a cruise or might get seasick. I did a bahama cruise and felt fine the whole time, but when I went on the cruise to Mexico, being in the gulf for so long made me seasick. The rooms are pretty nice although the overall decor is pretty tacky, very 80's.
Don't forget to budget for tips, you have to tip a lot of people on a cruise.
Also, when I go on cruises I pack water bottles full of vodka in my suitcase, never had a problem with that. Plus lemonade and ice tea are the only free beverages, so make some John Daly's!

BUT all discounts and comps will not be applied until Final Payment.

So you can still get your deposit in now and apply the discount later.

the rates go up in the middle of august per Carnival.

This is great! Yeah Buzz Boat!

FYI
I work in Customer Service for a travel agency. I want to inform everyone that does not have a passport to order one ASAP. I have had situations were people have ordered passports with the assumption that they will receive within 6 weeks and they are delayed. Please remember these are government agencies-do not go by their guidelines ( I believe 6-8 weeks). Give yourself sufficient time to order the passport just in case there are delays. I have seen people waiting as long as 14+ weeks for a passport & end up canceling their cruise AND losing money because they did not have it in time cruise. The cruise lines DO NOT refunds are credits for lack of proper documentation. It is YOUR responsibility to find out AND they will hold you accountable. At this time, passports will be REQUIRED for this cruise, but that is subject to change. Go ahead and order it now because I am telling you from experience, the closer the time is to when passports are required as stated via travel.state.gov (June 2009); there WILL be delays.

ALSO..
If you are a NON U.S. Citizen, you MUST verify with YOUR consulate or embassy your entry or exit requirements. Also check with the ports of call to make sure they do not require an entry or exit visa, reentry, etc. Once again, I have cancelled MANY cruises because NON US Citizens do not have the proper proof of citizenship. I have worked with clients that have been denied entry on the cruise (U.S. Citizens too).

LASTLY
The proof of citizenship requirements are NOT the cruise lines policies. These are Immigration, Customs, & the US Dept of State. Definitely read www.travel.state.gov. If you can't find the answer to the question, DO NOT rely on a response from a cruise line agent, some of them do not know what they are talking about. If you are misadvised, you can only say oh the [insert cruise line name here] agent told me this was okay for boarding. YOU MUST check with Immigration (1800-375-5283) if you’re not sure.

OH, AND FORGET THOSE PASSPORT CARDS (it is your own discretion to purchase, but realize it does have limitations)...it is ONLY VALID for Land & Sea travel...NOT AIR so if your at a non US port & you need to fly home for an emergency or whatever-you MUST have a passport...JUST GET A PASSPORT BOOK.

A few tips...

Make sure you read the cruise line penalty dates of when you have to cancel…penalties can be anywhere from your deposit up to 100% of what you’ve paid depending you when you have to cancel

Rates are based upon double occupancy, so if you want to travel alone, you’re paying 100%-200% of the fare; meaning you are basically paying the price for two people.

It is usually cheaper to book a quad then say two double cabins. The price for the 1 & 2 person is higher than the 3rd, 4th, or 5th person.

A CAT 1A (cat=category) for Carnival Cruise Line, inside/interiors cabins are bunk beds. If you don’t care, GREAT…if you’re a couple that wants an inside room, you might want to do a Cat 4A or higher.

Alcoholic beverages ARE NOT INCLUDED…neither is soda…and they are not cheap. Long Island Iced Tea=$13+ sometimes…So if you drink, make sure you bring enough money.

These are just a few of many of the questions I answer regarding Carnival Cruise Lines. I work with all the cruise lines though.

Here are a few good sites-

airfair will be close to 250 round trip i imagine

Is that all? Southwest charging that amount?

Lets charter a plane to miami. The Buzz Plane!!!!

OH FUCK YEAH.. with DJ spinning in front of the cabin!

I'm not worried about the price of airfare, I was just wondering if you could purchase both in one package for convenience's sake. Either way is cool though. :D

That would be nice. Especially a discounted airfare on one plane. See Buzz Plane above.

could you imagine the poor plane staff if we did..LOL

We probably could cut on cost and just lay out a table with free fruit on it...

No wonder they upgraded their servers. This looks so awesome. Super props for pulling this off guys.

Dude. You really need a new avatar. Max Headroom was so 80s! bleh

;)

why would all of you fly there? just look into going in on rentals and drive. it'd be cheaper per person to rent a van that can carry like 5 to 7 people. miami's not that far of a drive. hell, i've done it myself in one shot, in a late 70's camper that wouldn't go more than 55 mph.

How about just fucking swimming?? :)

well i had a great brilliant pic to post here, but apparently the board now hates me more.
